I think the Smiths fall in to this category well. Their music came out in the 80s but doesn't pigeonhole itself there and I think if someone hadn't heard them before you could easily convince them that the music was from any decade since.

Hmmmm. Can't agree with you there. They epitomize the 80s imo. Maybe they could be mistaken for early 90s due to the jangly guitars, but there's no way their music would fit seamlessly into today's music.

<let it be known that I hate the Smiths with a deep passion, so I have no desire to ever hear them, in any decade>
