Recording of time is a man made construct. The linear nature of 'time' itself passing is unequivocally true. If there wasn't any method of doing such a year would go by and the only difference is, you just wouldn't know when exactly your birthday was.

You would still go to work with the rising of the sun and so on, just like the first humans to show the ingenuity to do so.
