Homepage Article Tim Iroegbunam's Opportunity

He was caught out of position and wrong side far too often. Positional sense does come through experience and playing games (ie Gueye).

The bad experience yesterday will perhaps focus his mind and concentrate more off the ball. On it I think he’s good enough.

Maybe he needs a loan to get 35 games under his belt and see where he ends up. Maybe swap him into Preston for Armstrong.

I think we need to be careful about writing young players off. The premier league is brutal, it’s elite football and they will make mistakes.

I think if you actually think bigger scale he's been a marked improvement all season, newcastle aside (players are going to have bad games and there's no point writing them off for that) he has been decent all season.

He's kicked on a level post Newcastle, his fitness has improved massively, his positional play is so much better, I love how strong he is, he carries the ball really well, I think he's a surprisingly good dribbler and I feel like he's found another yard of pace.

Love his recovery ability, he is getting so much better at that.

I really like what I'm seeing him turn into. Already a good squad player for me but if he continues he could become ganas long term replacement

Similar to McNeil, needs a few games to get the rust knocked off. With match sharpness is much more confident. seems to be cutting the rash tackles out. I appreciate this is an eye of the beholder thing with refs in part. I also expect that having such a strong game from Garner to play alongside did him wonders.

I’d have him over Gueye every day of the week. He can actually shift at the speed opposition midfielders play at, and he doesn’t cough the ball up every time he’s under pressure.

Gana shouldn’t come straight back in.

Good to see him racking up the games.

Experience is exactly what’s missing from his game, and there’s no shortcut to that.

Moyes specialises in bringing on the defensive attributes of players, which will help with his positioning and reading of the game. Great to hear that Moyes has also been encouraging the offensive part of his game.

I think he’s got the makings of being a brilliant midfielder.
