Most still see him as a top level goalkeeper and blame the defence. It's a fundamental flaw they cannot get past to fully understand 'soccer'

Howard has been a great keeper for our club, so too Was Nigel Martyn, Ted Sagar, Gordon West and the greatest goalkeeper we have ever seen In Neville Southall.......but they all get old and they all have a sell by date......it's sad but it always happens.......

I'm not saying they were frequent but they were boss and saved us game. There are probably more.

Having said that there are a few posters on here who I believe are American, and they seem to know more about football than me.

The Southampton one was not a great save, at all. He made it harder than it needed to be by being woefully out of position and painfully slow to react, any keeper would have just stood up and caught it. The Belgium-USA game he didn't make an outstanding save, he made 15 fairly routine stops. Most were with his legs too. He hasn't made a save that's anywhere near as impressive as Butland's from Lukaku, that I can think of ever
