This transfer window as it now stands

Its all well and good saying that we didnt have any money at this window. Last year we sold AJH and raised some funds.

This year we sold JL.

Who;s next year is what worries me ?

Arteta
Rodwell
Jags

All worth £15 mill in current climate.

If Rodwell has a good season i can see Man Utd wanting him next year.

Hope I'm as optimistic as you, can't wait to see the end of deadline so I can resume my hibernation for the rest of the season.

But Dave, we're not earning a profit as a club,

You'll have to have a word with the manager then, because he's under the impression we have...and he wants it:

"We have made a profit in the last couple of years. We have finished fifth two years in a row."

Now the accounts may say differently, but Moyesie looks at this from the perspective of what the team earned through open competition on the pitch. My sympathies are with him.

we don't have a sugar daddy willing to bank roll any transfers and the current climate (not to mention our existing finances) make taking on additional debt a very risky business. Where exactly did you expect money for transfers to come from?

Hold on, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. We cashed in one of our assets and, as it stands, we haven't used that yet. On top of that is the money that was there for the Naughton and Defour bids that the club had cash put one side for. They presumably assessed the risk before promising that cash to Moyes? Nothing is being requested here that hasn't already been earmarked to be spent.

So it seems to me the only option we have as a club is to sell it to AN Shiek or sell high, buy low.

Which would you prefer?

Apparently that's not true though and there's a third option: Moyes spends the cash he earned through competition and brought in with the sale of Lescott.

Where's L.C.A.B. when you need him. What's the inside info?

Was watching sky sports bank holiday extra program and Ray Clements who works for Spurs was stating 12m odd for Bently. Said he wouldn't be surprised and that Spurs wouldn't mind losing him for that money? Chance there?

Where is this profit that we've generated though? It certainly doesn't show up in the accounts. I think in the last accounts our profits were about £50,000 or something. So technically yes, we have made a profit, but I repeat again, no club apart from Man Utd generate the kind of income organically to fund a £20m transfer spend each summer.

I suspect the Naughton money would have been from our flexible friend as I simply can't see where it would have come from without selling someone. No doubt that would have kept some fans happy (and maybe Moyes too) but is it good for the long-term health of the club? Unless there's something I havn't considered, debt is our third way, and it's not one we can keep returning to time after time.

Yes but Bruce, we know our wages are around the £46m mark. Which is not far off the fee that we get in Sky and prizemoney. We have gate reciepts, we have sponsorship, just where are these record turnovers going?

Without consulting the annual report I couldn't say but it'll probably be in there. Things like debt repayments, operating costs for our facilities (or the rent we pay on them). It all adds up.

Yeah I know its all about x, y and z and I will never understand it.

Just hear so many soundbites, see so much.

I read about the kitbag deal thats worth £30m, I read about the prizemoney, I read the accounts and I see what the wages are, I see Goodison full at times, I see long cup runs, I read about the fact that Moyes has spent £4m net a season and then, every year, the accounts show profit of buttons.

As I say, I dont understand and never will. I think next time the accounts come out, im gonna get my cousin to explain them to me. She is an accountant.
