What is going on? it's meant to be ready by the start of next season? I just checked the first press release on the everton website when they announced it and it says by summer 2011 and then later autumn 2011.
Delighted Chief Executive Robert Elstone says planning permission for the new Park End development is a ‘big boost’ for the Club.
The Blues discovered on Tuesday morning they had been given the green light to begin construction work on the new £9m self-funded project.
Costs will be covered entirely through the assistance of existing Club retail partner Kitbag and Stadium catering partner Sodexo with work set to be completed by Autumn 2011.
The new development will be built on the site of the Club Everton lounge at the Park End of the stadium and will be home to a 900 square metre retail store, museum, cafe, hospitality lounge and office space.
And now the plans have been rubber-stamped, the Club can press ahead with implementing their state-of-the-art plans.
“Gaining planning permission is a very important hurdle in bringing the new development to fruition,” Mr Elstone exclusively told evertonfc.com.
“Planning is a challenging and complex process. People have worked really hard on it so getting over that first important hurdle is really pleasing and gives us the impetus to go on and deliver the project in a real sense.
“Our advisors had been confident,” he added. “We are never complacent as we know only too well the planning process can be difficult to predict.
“But we know we built a strong case and it wasn’t particularly contentious in its impact on the local environment and, indeed, we think it is a very positive step for the local environment and surroundings.”
There is no way that will happen now.
