2025/26 Thierno Barry

he was signed by 2nd Division Crystal Palace at 21 from non league, and spend 6 years there before Arsenal 😂
Didn't reply to this because it was ridiculous anyway but its funny that's it's also factually incorrect.

If people can't see how daft it makes them look to seriously be suggesting that there are better strikers in non-league, there's genuinely nothing i could possibly say to change their minds.

Getting in France u21 side is not a joke you know, biggest talent pool in the world. People are free to hold the opinion that Barry is the worst player ever but people who actually get payed to know about football clearly disagree.

8 th tell me where we are at the end of the season yes we won't be fighting relegation but DM three players with the add ons if they stay- Barry - Dibling - Rohl will equal upto 90 million in years to come !
Wasted funds imo on poor and average players imo ....
How many times have you changed your mind on Rohl

Have you been riding the Google train again ?

Are the Everton scouts part of that contingent? They haven’t found a decent striker since Lukaku who wasnt exactly a find on their part.

Barry is youngish but at 23 he should be a more complete player if he’s going to be leading the line in the premier league.

Our scouting can fairly be criticised, not disagreeing with that that. At the same time though, it should obviously not be controversial to say that the French national team set up has very good talent id, and probably the biggest pool of talented young footballers in the world to pick from.

This is the thing. People talk about him like he’s 19 or something. He should be entering his prime years now not looking like a development project that hopefully will come good one day.

We have a lot less money to spunk on strikers than other clubs and to do the Brentford thing where you can find an affordable striker that can be profile it takes time to let him excel. Do people not realize Barry has one of the higher goal totals for a striker signed in this window especially when you consider his price?

Indeed. The give him time, let him develop people are crazy. When does that stop? 27?
Also French U21s is as much of a joke as England U21s. Go through the history of England U21s and see how many didn't make the top flight.

At 23 DCL was having his best season at Everton, scoring 21 goals. Even before that, he'd looked a much better footballer than Barry looks right now. In fact, even when he started out, as a teenager often shoved out on the right wing, DCL's strength and ball control was twice that of Barry's now.

Look, I'm not writing off Barry (actually I probably am), but even if he's not getting the results DCL was getting at this age, he should at least be showing the promise at 23 that DCL showed at 20 or 21.

I read about him - the reason he is not playing so many games played & we are obligated to buy him if that is in his contract ? .... he had a very good game v Villa - not kicked a ball in anger since ? or he is carrying a knock ?

Barry needs to stay in the side and get real experience in the EPL. We aren't going down and we aren't good enough for Europe (at least to stay in the competition properly) so let him play, get behind him and lets turn our investment into value. He's clearly decent as he's improved season-on-season going each time to a tougher league.
