I've heard it's shutting in January, expected I guess but sad news all the same,id imagine most Evertonians have frequented the place at one point or another and a lot of memories locked in there,was a truly iconic pub interwoven into Everton folklore

From an historic point of view yes this is rather sad however I feel it wasn’t the greatest pub latterly. That’s a personal opinion however, and I’ve been in far worse.

First time I was ever in the Winslow was the Ferguson Derby in 94/95. It was a wonderful evening. Would only seldom go there on match days, other than having to pick up a ticket from upstairs, it was always too rammed and we generally went to either the The Thomas Frost on Walton Rd or The Brick.

Inevitable it would struggle to remain open without the matchday revenue and it being an Everton institution.

The owners needed to snap up one of the vacant units directly opposite the new place in advance of the move and just transfer the name and everything across.

It wouldn't be the same of course, but you'd probably have got most the regulars

Disgraceful. We have a new stadium but its a corporate bore fest with 250 quid hospitality tickets to get a few pints. Except for the ‘Bramley Moore’ pub it seems no local people have benefitted from it. No street vendors selling scarves. Even the stewards are shipped in from Birmingham…
