Don't listen to Joe Rogan, I do like Frankie but he doesn't carry the power or chin of Mendes.

I honestly believed Mendes was his toughest fight at FW, still some great fights to look forward to.

Gutted I didn't go to Vegas for this now.
you have a spare 5 grand to go around and do this kinda thing?

Certainly doesn't have the power but he has arguably the best chin in MMA! Mendes lost the fight because he gassed and because he stood right in front of McG, 2 things we both know Edgar wouldn't do. That said of the fight happened I would hope and after the other night expect McGregor to win.

He has great recovery but he's been hurt a few times, not sure his chin is all that. If McGregor could get him standing I think he could finish him. They wont make that fight before Aldo though, too much $$$ to lose for everyone involved. Edgar doesn't tend to produce the most fan friendly fights either.

Best chin in MMA??

As said above his recovery is great but go back and watch his LW fights especially with Gray Maynard. Now Conor on the other hand seems to have a granite chin and is one of the hardest and most accurate hitters in MMA full stop.

This line of Mendes gassing is pure turd as well, I'm not sure how much boxing or martial arts you have done but the body shots he took just in the first half of the first round would slow anyone down.

I always said I'd prefer to be hit flush in the face than in the body because you just can't recover from them, I've found that out a few times.

Yeah I meant recovery from punches rather than just not bring rocked. Fact is he's never been KO'd and he's been hit very very hard. Would McGregor rock him? Probs. Would he finish him with strikes? Very unlikely.

Yeah of course he didn't just straight up run out of energy due to lack of preparation, it was the body shots but gassing is gassing regardless of why one gasses.

Yeh but in that case you say Mendes lost the fight because he gassed which is the same as saying he lost the fight due to the punishment he took to his mid section.

I find the gassing thing is more that some completely dismiss what damage Conor actually done to him and blame the 2 week short notice even when Chad admitted he was training way before that in anticipation of someone dropping out.

I see the Frankie fight different to you, I can't see him taking the punishment the same as Chad couldn't. Chad took the best Aldo threw at him for 5 rounds in the second fight, his chin has proven to be pretty solid.

Mad how little credit Conor has been getting for those body shots. He knew what he was doing, and it paid off big time. Wrestlers like Mendes wont expect kicks to the body so much either, because most people are too scared of being taken down to throw them.

Frankie Edgar can take a fight in the meantime and wait his turn. McGregor - Aldo needs to happen first.

Been watching UFC for 13 years and that was the best event I've seen. Brilliant from start to finish. The only weird part was the live vocalist walk-ins, hope they don't do that again!

Conor proved he can take a dig, great to see him get tested like that and come through with flying colours. Lawler v McDonald was a great war and the bloodiest fight I seen since Clay Guida. Gunnar Nelson looked great and Matt Brown in the prelims, exciting as always. Great knockouts too from Jeremy Stephens and Dennis Bermudez. Atmosphere was electric and an all round great card.

Roll on UFC Glasgow next week

Faber and McGregor are the coaches on TUF 22 btw.

Haha I wondered how long before Conor would be drafted in as a coach on TUF, that will be well worth a watch. Normally the coaches fight each other afterwards, can't imagine McGregor will fight Faber before Aldo?

Been offered tickets to UFC Glasgow for slightly below the current selling price. So tempted as I've got a flat up there and could get a free flight from Heathrow through the company... Not been to UFC before and having looked at the card, it doesn't look that great, so I'm worried for the price I'd pay, it could be a massive let-down. It also makes things a lot more difficult for the weekend in terms of preparations for work on the Monday.

Can't decide!

Do it!

I went to UFC 80 in Newcastle, think it was around £90 for a ticket. It's a great experience to be there, I thought it was well worth the money. The atmosphere in Glasgow should be electric, I would love to be going!
