This is your brain on summer transfer rumours...

Here endeth the lesson.

Seems reasonable enough...

Arouna Kone wants to quit Wigan and follow manager Roberto Martinez to Everton - after turning down Norwich and Swansea.

Ivory Coast striker Kone can leave relegated Latics because of a release clause in his deal which sets the fee at £6.5million.

New Wigan boss Owen Coyle is holding out for every penny of that, while Kone's camp are making it plain he will only move to Goodison and be part of Martinez's new-look Toffees.

The proposed move - which we revealed first last month - is threatening to create an ugly stand-off between Martinez and the club he steered to FA Cup Final glory last month.

Both Norwich and Swansea have made moves for Kone, but the player will not entertain them because his heart is set on joining Everton.

Coyle is digging in his heels over the sale.

He wants the cash in full, and is happy to keep Kone if the figure is not met.

The Wigan boss wants all of the money for his rebuilding programme, as he has inherited only around a dozen fit players from Martinez.

I have no issues at all with us not signing anyone yet.

Surely RM has to assess what he has got first and foremost. He may also find players in the academy which perfectly fit the system he wishes to employ. Until you have done all these things you cannot way up exactly what you feel is required.

People were moaning last year about missing out on the likes of Rodallega and Pranjic. We eventually signed the excellent Mirallas. I am sure we will sign someone who we will be excited about eventually, and we have to trust the managers judgement.

Daily Mail report that Birmingham City have rejected a bid from Everton for Nathan Redmond. Swansea and Norwich have had bids accepted.

If true this does not bode well.
