Read some people saying Kone isn't good enough for us. Joke surely? He ripped us apart in 3 games last season and caused Man City no end of trouble and scored 13 goals for a relegated side and 15 for a Levante side that didn't contain many creative players. He is exactly what we need up front for £5m! Yeah he's 29 but that will get 3 good seasons out of him at least. We don't have £20m to sign Negredo or even £12m to sign Bony. Im quite confident Kone would do very well for us.

I do agree.

Roque Santa Cruz, Papiss Cisse, Nikica Jelavic, DJ Campbell all have one thing in common. All struggled in their second season in the top flight. Will Kone be any different?

He's a massive no-no for me. Everyone is going on like he was top scorer, he scored 11 goals. Why pay £5m for him, when you could put another couple on that to sign someone much younger and better?

Like who?

That's a question for our scouting and management team. If Arouna Kone is the best player we can afford then we are in serious financial difficulties.

The fee quoted for Bony is around 10-12m. That's an extra 7m for a more proven and younger striker. As I said, it's not like he blew everyone away with his talents, Martinez would of been a little disappointed had he not bagged 11 goals or so.

Kone has scored 15 and then 13 goals for La Liga and PL teams who do not have the greatest resources, his assists have averaged between 7-11 over the last 3 seasons. He's played very well against some top sides in Spain and England. Including a raping of Johnny Heitinga and then to some degree the normally excellent Phil Jagielka in two games following. He's more proven than Bony mate and half the price. He's a good player.
