They say that it’s the hope that kills you, but the thought of Moyes 2.0 leaves me feeling very flat, with little or no hope tbh.
The whole thing reminds me of Kendall - Moyes had his time here and I don’t think we should be looking backwards, he should take his knife to a different gunfight.
After leaving the second time Kendall went to Notts County in division two (?). Then a bit of sun and white win in Greece before resurfacing at Sheffield United where he got them one game away from prem.
So yes someone who became detached from top level and it was huge error to get him back in summer 1997 but that was only after top targets like Bobby Robson and Andy Gray had rejected the job so he was very much the last resort with the season approaching.
Moyes far more in touch with the top level when you look at his general body of work in the last three years. He was managing and winning in a european final less than two years ago so I wouldn't be calling him a yesterday's man.
It's vital to get someone in who can dig out the 3-4 wins required at Goodison now against rival teams. One issue still
Moyes has is how pathetic his record is away at other top half teams, pretty sure in all his time at West Ham they only beat Arsenal away from top 6-7 clubs, maybe Spurs once aswell so I think survival now is pretty much on what happens at Goodison.
