Sorry Dave but no sport is unattainable. i wont disagree that it is harder for some to the point of real difficulty finanically wise but it is ppossible. i dont know enough about sponsorship to say that is the way but i think that is an avenue that people can go for. dont forget that also the olympics is the pinnacle of their sport there are loads of competitions at local levels. i have been in and attended equestrian events, and i am very far from rich.

I think it shows how wrong the world is when through the Olympic opening ceremony it was repeatedly said, "the first female competitor for.." wouldn't think it's 2012.

Was a rule enforced by the IOC or have the countries changed their views on women ?

They will probably be imprisoned on their return for doing the games in their knickers, some buff arses in that Algerian v-ball team

They should have a seperate Olympics for middle class sports.

Equestrian
Rowing
Badminton
Archery
Shooting

All shite and the medals from them dont count.

Cycling
Football
Swimming
Track and Field
Boxing

...pretty much the only sports worth winning a medal in.

So Badminton is a middle class sport, but Cycling isn't ?

'Wiggins was born in Ghent, Belgium, where his Australian father, Gary, an endurance cyclist, was based. When his parents separated in 1982, he moved to London with his mother to stay with his maternal grandparents at the Dibdin House estate in Maida Vale.'

'
Hoy was educated at George Watson's College, a Scottish independent school in Edinburgh, followed by the University of St Andrews in 1996.'

'
Victoria Louise Pendleton, and her twin brother Alex James, were born on 24 September 1980 in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England, to Max Pendleton, a keen cyclist and former British national grass-track cycling champion, and Pauline M Viney'

Real working class struggles going on there.
