I dont think the Olympics really starts until the track and field kicks in like, so there's time for it to take off as an event. Up to now (first hour of the openeing ceremony apart) this has been a pretty dismal spectacle, IMO. The od sporting moment aside (like the Lituanian and South African swim golds, and that sprint finish to the women's cycle road race) it hasn't captured the imagination. The environment doesn't help either: Pissing down/dull and breezy weather and, on occasion, half empty arenas. And the home nation doing rubbish as far as golds are concerned is sending the media off on witch-hunts of other nation's athletes to 'prove' they must be on drugs.

This Games needs to up its performance by about 100%.

Nothing wrong with saving yourselves for latter stages of the competition but deliberately trying to lose is a disgrace.


Also, Australia are nailed on for the Mens Hockey Gold. 4-0 up vs Spain and watched them thump South Africa 6-0 on Monday
