It's been fantastic hasn't it. Really excited for the track and field though.

Before it started I was only arsed about the football and Usain Bolt. The athletics hasn't even started yet and I'm loving it.

I'd implore anyone who likes boxing at all to try and check it out though. Sadly it seem that it's strictly online/red button viewing but it's ace.

Anyway, I'm off. Night and sweet (Savanah-filled) dreams. x

oh man we won! wish i stayed up now, its hardly a medals fest at the moment but i like the way we have done well in sports we are usually rubbish at - bronze in mens gymnastics and now a first win in the volleyball

these gymelastic kids are fecking incredible- one handed spinning handstands and flipping onto the other hand?????????? WTF!!!!! incredible

they should have actual WWE in the olympics, you could have judges giving artistic scores..

Smithy's Olympic Fact Of The Day:

WWE and TNA Legend Kurt Angle was going to try out for the US wrestling team this time round after previously winning in Atlanta (I think). However, he injured himself so couldn't compete. Had he have qualified he would have been in with a medal shout for sure as he can actually wrestle. Arguably the greatest wrestler of all time.

Eventing is sh*te, I just want us to win something though

Some of the swimming heats then were impressive. They had the mens heats for the relay (qualifiers for the final) and the Yanks and French blitzed it, despite le bleus resting their superstar Agnel Yannick (who has 2 gold medals already) and the Yanks resting 3/4 of their first choice 4, including Lochte and Phelps. Scary stuff.

The brits did well mind and qualified for the final in fifth I think.

We are never going to win that really, especially with those two in the US team.

I've become quite a keen follower of Women's beach Volleyball. The Spanish team are my chosen side. Not for their looks (although one has a great arse) but it is actually quite enjoyable to watch.

Damn, I fell asleep in the 4th set. Well in chicks.

Lad, I'd still love her. Even without legs.

The court would need some mopping then mate.

Savanah-Leaf, sure that has been a purchase of mine at some point.*

I didn't realise they didn't have any funding! They had to raise cash themselves. These girls really, really wanted it.

Shows how shameful this country is in regards to grass roots sports. It's an Olympic event and they still couldn't be arsed to fund it.

The cutting of funding seems to be a common theme, I know that the handball girls went over to Norway to go to college and play in the league over there (then possibly Denmark), they were funded as those in charge asked them to do it, once they were over there and sort of established, with the carrot of the Olympics there in front of them, the funding was cut.
Still want the dream ? get anyone and everyone to help you out as we aint any more.

It's a disgrace really as the Olympic committee want them there, and in the case of the girl that I know it has been all she has worked towards since the age of 14 when we got the games, she did everything they asked i.e. move to Norway away from her family at a very young age really, the idea of the funding is so that they can concentrate on playing handball, yet they all found themselves having to take part time work instead of training due to the cost of living there. It would've served them right if the team had pulled out as a boycott at the 11th hour. Holly will be OK as she has signed for the current European Champions and will play in the Champions League next season, but some of the others will now after the games need to create a career, some 5 years after their peers did.
