….think I might have tried it as kid but didn’t like it but I’d be quite sure it’s actually tongue.

I reckon you’d still get it in a market butchers, I loved sweetbread from testicles but rarely see it these days although had it a few times recently in a very nice Turkish Hotel we visit.

Looked on wiki, it is an actual tongue you are right.

Have never tried sweetbread (just the thought of it gives me the willies).

The factory I worked at one of the Security Guards always came round with the girl from the cash office when she was dishing the wages out.

My first job at 16 was in a shoe shop on Bold street ,they use to send me up the road to the bank with a bag full of money the takings for the day.
These were different times but even then I got offers from mates to cosh me on the head and split the takings

Zip pockets.
2 in fleece jacket. 2 in jogging pants. Bank card, keys, money, phone - each securely zipped in its own pocket ready for morning shop.
Leaving Tesco I guarantee at least one pocket will be left wide open exposing its valuable contents to light-fingered thieves, risk of falling out etc.

Never mind zip pockets, twice in two weeks I've left notes and change in the self checkout at the Tesco.

Used to have it as the meat in a salad whenever we went to visit my grandma. Didn't mind it then but as I grew older went off it. Still available in tins and occasionally on deli counters.

Don't eat much meat now, usually only chicken.

Yes, they still sell it, and yes it is a tongue. Should go Turkey and try Kelle Paca soup (head soup) - it's full meaty goodness.

My brother in law and sister were visiting my brother in Cairo in the 80s.

Brother in law was tucking into a meat dish and thoroughly enjoying it until my brother told him it was bull's testicles.

Cue a large Technicolor yawn .

It's the slimy feel and holes, which really take the biscuit, and not a tasty biscuit at that.

I tied two pencils together - halved the punishment
