Half of them will be dead by next election.
Hopefully not. A more targeted approach is now in play. To get the money where it matters.

That's window dressing.

They'll either be rebuffed or snarled up in application bureaucracy that goes nowhere fast and give up on it. It's another cynical ploy.

The bottom line is that the Red Tories are taking cash which was handed out automatically to pay for heating costs (announced yesterday to be rising by another 9% by the autumn) from the vulnerable.

You cant polish a turd like this.

Behave, do it all the time for people, as they move into retirement. Its pretty simple process and can be claimed well in advance so its in place from retirement date.

It's opt-in, which is different from people are automatically handed it.

As said, this lot are cynics: they know full well that their 'appeal' to get those entitled signed up to it will not result in much take up.

They're trying to claw back billions NOT hand billions out.

If the other Tory Party were doing this we'd ALL call the changes to winter fuel payment and the cuts to come in welfare for what it is: punishing the weak.

'Tough choices' they say. They've chosen to do that, remember.

Poor Golf club and their membership fees are going to take a hit. Much of the benefits should be means tested, all actually, apart from disabilities.

  • Winter fuel payments attacked
  • No cap set on social care costs
  • Cuts to benefits

I hope Mick Lynch, Mick Whelan and the other union leaders are prepared to call this out as the source of any wage settlement they get.

And I expect them to condemn this Red Tory government for not using the levers of income and wealth tax to fund their deals.

Interesting link within your link.

Ourselves part of the Welsh labour home warm plan 6 years ago now, we were the first privately owed home to receive the work, so
we were was informed by company who put it in. Reduced our gas central heating massively easily 50% to 60%.
