All I'm doing is showing you what a government looks like when its right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

They made a big deal out of freeing prisoners and reducing bottle necks in the justice system; then the riots happened and they went all Judge Dredd demanding judges hand down draconian sentences to rioters, then a week or so later want those same rioters released on bail because they forgot they wanted to reduce over crowding in prisons.

This is government by focus group. It's what happens when the leaders of that government haven't got any real convictions or ideology and just change tack in order to try and appear in control.

They're all over the place on this.

It's an embarrassing climbdown. Basically they're telling them: "we cant do anything about you lot because we cant follow through with the harsh sentences we'd like to hand down to you".

Thank goodness there's still the huge obstacle of the organised left groups who can clear up the fascist street violence threat that this government cant or wont remove.

The ones who`ve been charged and convicted of lower level offences, such as affray, have been released on bail pending sentence.

This has been done numerous times before during times when there`s been a lack of prison cells.

However it matters not, as the Lucinda and Toby from Totnes, are ready and waiting to mobilise their anti fascist army at the drop of a hat, should the non fascist scallies from the likes of Merseyside get bail ( who for some reason seem to been have been mistakenly sentenced for race related offences of public disorder )

Could easily be, but I think it'll more likely be a slower process. Generational links to a particular party often take a long time to overcome. I think it's as good as certain though that the working class will drift away from the party if current political trends continue.

You have no idea what the breakdown of figures are for those now detained in police cells as opposed to those bailed.

As for the claim they've charged and and released those with 'lower level' offences: what does that mean, 'lower level'? They threw half a hose brick through a mosque window rather than a full one? What would be categorised as 'lower level' offence...in a 'kin riot?!


It's not use Starmer blaming the other Tory Party for their failure to build more prisons, btw. That might well be the case. But he's the one who tried to look like Mr Tough Guy to the country by demanding long sentences and a huge operation to find hundreds and hundreds of people to charge...which then placed the system at breaking point again and has resulted in his government's u-turn.

Im not sure about your use of the term 'underclass', but yeah, there's something in what you say.

The government policies announced so far and in the pipeline are indicating a classic cleavage 'divide and rule' approach to the working class usually adopted by the other Tory Party.

Taking cash off pensioners (and they are not 'rich' as the dog whistle propaganda suggests, btw) and welfare recipients (if they dont get off health exemptions) will pay for the wage hikes to those in work who've been in dispute.

There's a real cynicism about this lot.

Lower level means exactly what it says, offences that don’t carry meaty jail terms, such as affray.

If you care to peruse the Public Order Act 1986, you’ll see that the definition of throwing a brick through a mosque window during a riot, would fit the legal definition of violent disorder, which is what virtually all of them have been convicted of, not the much lesser offence of affray.

As for those being detained in police cells, pending the freeing up of jail cells, if you care to put down your left wing comic, the Morning Star and watch the national news, you’ll see that those given custodial sentences haven’t been freed as you claim and are in fact still in custody.

Also your weird fixation with Kier Starmer is starting reach the levels of tedium again that got you your last ban, so how about dialling it down a bit ?
