I remember being on holiday as a kid in Torquay the summer we signed him, me and my dad were buzzing for it to be made official as there had been a lot of talk it was about to happen. But one morning my dad walked into our hotel room with a newspaper with a face like thunder, and held the back page up to me and the headline read “KAN-CELLED”, with a story about it all falling through. We were gutted. Luckily a couple of days later it all went through.
