A whole host of Everton players are jetting off to play for their countries in the forthcoming international break.

John Heitinga, Marouane Fellaini, Tim Howard and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov all have World Cup qualifiers while Steven Pienaar has a couple of friendlies for 2010 hosts South Africa.

Some of Everton's younger players are also in action at Under-21 and Under-19 level.

New arrival Heitinga's Holland have already booked their place in South Africa and the side face Japan in Enschede in a friendy before heading to Scotland for a qualifier which will be vital for George Burley's side.

Fellaini is in the Belgium squad for two tricky World Cup qualifiers, firstly in Spain then in Armenia.

Bilyaletdinov's Russia duties mean his stay on Merseyside was a fleeting one; Guus Hiddink's side entertain minnows Liechtenstein in Moscow before heading to Cardiff to play Wales.

Pienaar and South Africa have two Europe-based friendlies, against Germany and Ireland, while Howard heads back to Salt Lake City to face El Salvador before moving on to Trinidad and Tobago for the second of the USA's two qualifiers.

Rodwell links up with the England Under-21 squad as they head off on a European Championship qualifying road trip double header, facing Macedonia and Greece.

Shane Duffy is also in action as Northern Ireland try to qualify for the same competition as they take on the Czech Republic and Iceland.

At Under-19 level, James Wallace will be part of the England squad that faces Russia in a friendly at Shrewsbury.

Coverage of all our international players will be on evertonfc.com over the next few days.

Ajax fan treat him like god. Strangely I can't find much video of him playing for athletico. I think he's not that much appreciated there.

Perhaps he was not allowed to stray upfield as much as when he was at ajax. Some of his ajax video makes me wonder if he's a winger or a right back. Can't help but wonder what is a right back doing in that part of the field.

Was just watching fox sports news and they reporting we payed eleven and a half mil for him. What the????

Right Backs do go forward, we are just used to watching Hibbert, take Alves or even Glen Johnson, hes already got 2 goals this season that lerd.

$$$ Maybe?

Take a step back - Moyes is keenly aware of the current wage structure and isn't going to upset the happy little apple cart over one man. He certainly has taken into consideration that Pienaar's extension is in negotiations and what the others will want or demand.

Even if the Heitinga wage rumors are true, Moyes will accomodate those others that plausibly would demand more in wages. He's thought it through and I have to hope, worked this through before he pulled Heitinga in.

Besides, how hard is it to explain to anyone that Heitinga was not a steal in the current market - an fairly young (will be 26 this November) established international right back (47 caps for Holland) whose played in big leagues and for big teams for 6 million and 55K per week. Bang on, Moyes - excellent buy.

would i be right in saying not only have we improoved the quality in the squad but also reduced the wage bill and put money in the bank ?

whats the sums ....
22+ million in
valente , lescott , castillo , vdm , jacobsen , kissock , irving ..wages = ?

vs
20 million out
billy , heitinga , distin ...wages = ?
