The importance of booing

Something in that. 66 England went on the underground as they did for every match. They weren't celebrities back then, neither were they paid.

Remember Paul Bracewell knocking at my door down in Wales as he heard through our muns i suppported Everton thus gave me two signed picture post cards and signed 86 England top. Never would happen now unless there was angle to exploit...

Draw a line at signaling individual home plsyet out for booing but poor team effort is fair game. Dyche and kopite would have many more matches if it were not acrimonious booing Goodison.

Incidentally spirit of Goodison found its way down to the "dock" yesterday afternoon after that penalty went in. Got the crowd going. If you want cheers expect the boos.
I’m going way back to the 1950’s and I used to get the bus to the game in St. Anne Street and many times there would be Everton players on the bus. Dave Hickson, John Willie Parker, Ted Buckle, Jimmy Harris and one or two others and they’d gab away to us especially Dave Hickson— in our promotion year after we had lost away to Leeds me and my mates spotted the Everton coach outside an hotel and we were chatting to all the players when Cliff Britton, the manager, came towards the bus he asked me had we had anything to eat producing a pound note from his pocket, I told him we were okay we’d just had fish and chips so the pound went back in his pocket, lovely genuine gesture though—-Imagine those events happening today— a lot of them have security men stopping you from having a conversation with them— that’s if you wanted to chat to half of them!

Booing your own players is kopite behaviour and only helps the opposition.
How about a player giving two fingers to his own crowd I’ve seen that before at Goodison and remember Dave Hickson doing it to the Kop while playing for Liverpool, they were getting beat 2-0 at Anfield v Scunthorpe Unt.(?) in front of a crowd of 13, 000, yes 13,000 and they were giving Davie and most of the team plenty of stick when Davie with his left hand gave them the two fingers waist high so the manager and coaches couldn’t see what he was doing!

So Barkley`s Everton career was ruined by the crowd booing at the manager and he was that thick he thought that they were booing at him. That summed Barkley up, had the talent to do amazing things on the pitch, but couldn`t work out when or where was the right time and place to do them.
Can't disagree with thick. Loads of talent, no footballing brain was how I always saw him.

No issue with it as far as I'm concerned.

People have every right to voice their displeasure. We lacked quality in the first half, and you can accept that sometimes - but watching people on nearly £100k a week mope around and not covering space is unacceptable.

We have had many players who would have been happy enough to plod along not really contributing much effort yet on big money, If you are content to do that then expect some wrath, just because players feel they can get away with 70% effort dosent mean the fans should accept it.. Put in the effort and you wont get booooooooooed

Not a fan of booing our own players, however unleashing boos on the refs and opposition to get the place moody is what we do best. Ask Fergie
