It's my mew favourite site.

Content rich, easy to read. Paid version too.

I'm a dyed in the wool Guardian reader but I happen to think its football reportage had become almost laughably [Poor language removed]-orientated in the days of Rafael. I was fully expecting to see the headline Rafael Opens Packet of Crisps sooner or later. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find their sports section is edited either by a kopite or a paranoid manc. I also think that Kevin McCarra is a pretty [Poor language removed] chief footie writer who never seems to be writing about the same game I was at although David Lacey is a national institution and Paul Wilson, who does most of his writing for its sister paper the Observer, is a Blue who can occasionally show his true colours without ever being embarrassing.

Their website, however, is second to none. If only they had Henry Winter writing for them.

Big Interview today with Stuart Holden (USA!!!) -

"David Moyes and Alan Irvine put in a good word for me initially," he says. "They saw me in the Milk Cup in Ireland with the US Under-20 squad and offered me a trial at Everton. They were flying high in the league at that time and didn't have an immediate place in the squad for me, but said I had done well and recommended me to Sunderland. I'll always be grateful for Mick McCarthy giving me the opportunity. The reason it didn't work out was a combination of my unfortunate injury and the team getting promoted."

Watch that Moyes lid. He's got his his eyes fixed squarely on the USA.

From today's Guardian Rumour Mill:

Speaking of things totally irrational and crazy and absurd, the Manchester City high-muck-a-muck, Roberto Mancini, has decided that since winning the league the atmosphere around their Carrington training ground is a touch too straight-laced, a bit too stuffy. And so to liven things up a bit he has decided to spunk a fat wedge of Abu Dhabi's hard-earned money on the Chelsea and Brazil defender David Luiz. It will cost £30m to get the defender to sing the entire score of the HMS Pinafore and repeatedly stand on rakes but Mancini reckons it will be worth it. One player who will not be around to share the mirth, however, is Kolo Touré. The former defender is off to ply his trade in Napoli.

I apparently cannot figure out how to load pictures but if you haven't seen this Simpsons episode, go watch. One of the greatest.

the Guardian is very left wing, even for a lefty like me.

But its sports coverage is up there with the times.

The independents sports coverage has gone increasingly snobby over the years, so much so , I dont buy it anymore.

Funny. I find it to be centre left at most
