To lighten the 'lets all read grisly books about the nightmares of war' mood, how about little Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini?

My bro loves these series. I've got a couple of collections on the first few comics on my e-reader. Haven't read much, but pretty good imo.

I'm in the middle of that right now, really really enjoying it. Learning so much from it.
Same author (Tim Marshall) also apparently wrote:

Dirty Northern B*st*rds And Other Tales From The Terraces: The Story of Britain's Football Chants

Anyone read it? I'm shocked to hear that there would be any kind of unfavorable language used in a football chant. Shocked, I say.

I don’t normally go for true crime books, as they tend to be poorly written, full of conjecture and padded out with pictures, but this is a seriously good book.

It’s wriiten by four crime reporters, who worked extensively with the Police, during the thirty one years it took to catch him, so every single bit of is factual, written from their own notes and inside knowledge.

If you like true crime, this is a book for you. ( it’s not for the faint hearted though )

The Netflix series Mind Hunter borrows heavily from this book.

@Efcjake is this one your reading

Someone recommend this on here, just want to say thanks, it's outstanding and could've done with being much longer than it's 255 pages.

Brutal, dark and superbly written.

Think of a Cormac McCarthy book, set aboard a Victorian whaling boat full of some very bad men, intent on doing some very bad things.

Highly recommended.
Could have been me? I loved it and posted about it here. Dark and lovely.

Reading Levison Woods 'Eastern Horizons' and really enjoying it.
I'd recommend his Walking the Nile, Himalayas and Americas books too.

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. Thriller about a major terrorism threat to the USA. Very long - 890 pages in paperback.
All I can say is John Le Carré or Len Deighton would have dealt with the subject in half the time and in better prose.
