I see there is a GOT Book Club, but I can't stand reading.

I do like music though, hence the creation of this thread.

Here is a place to discuss your favourite album, your most hated albums, recommendations or just what you are listening to now.

I'll start with an album from a couple of brothers from Manchester, you might've heard of it. Argued to be the greatest debut by a British band by many, not including myself. Still a 10/10 album though.

nice thread, albums are a beautiful thing, i hope they keep getting made in the face of all this insta-gratification culture.

favourites:

all-time: Pink Floyd - The Wall
female: Pj Harvey - White Chalk
german: Einstürzende Neubauten - Tabula Rasa
classical instrumental: Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa
electronic instrumental: Psykovsky - Tanetsveta
foreign-language: Iva Bittová & Dunaj - 1988

Alright Darren,

When I have to name just one album, my answer is The Ideal Crash by dEUS - it really is worth a listen.

Other contenders (off the top of my head) would be:
Submarine by Whipping Boy,
Sgt Peppers by The Beatles
Rid of Me or Dry by PJ Harvey,
Henry's Dream or just about anything by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Heads by The Garden Hasn't Changed Much,
Six by Mansun
This is the Sea by The Waterboys

I'd better stop now...

All Mod Cons was of a time and a place but Setting Sons was more mature, that one, plus Victorialand by Cocteau Twins.
A lot of compilations get overlooked as albums, This Mortal Coil albums were compilations really, then you get something like Biorhythms which is just poignant.
There's Steve McQueen, Prefab Sprout's finest, A secret Wish by Propaganda, so, so many.
Above these I would pick Another Music in a Different Kitchen by the Buzzcocks solely because I've bought it 6 times and is an album I can't 'not have'.

This is my all time favourite album too. I was 13/14 when it came out and wasn't really fussed about guitar music till I heard this. Great album and never gets old for me. Still listen to it fairly regularly now. Saw Liam Gallagher live this year and he did about half of this album. Magic.

Imo the second best album to come from the world of Britpop. Beer garden anthems for days.
