was less of an exodus than newcastle tbf but the downing tools because of needing to get a train home is wimpish and pathetic
Is it to get the train though? Most of the lads around me come direct from the pub, nip down at half time to have a few more, then jib it early so there aren’t mad crowds at the bar when the get to the boozer?

Never been the same since they stopped renting out the cushions in the main stand at Goodison,so cathartic to lash them at the players retreating down the tunnel after an abysmal performance.

It appears to have become a modern trend to leave as soon as an apparently decisive goal is conceded. Very noticeable at the Etihad and course others too. West Ham I thought seemed the worst judging by the thousands of abandoned seats in the second half of their games. On the other hand, are they proper fans? This is a legit point cos in the case of West Ham, how can their attendances suddenly rocket from 30k to 60k after their move? I guess they are new curious fair weather fans. Judging by the exodus at our Brentford game in the lower east terrace where I am and elsewhere, in mid second half our increased attendances include a good number of similar folks. My two immediate neighbours leave regularly with 20 - 30 minutes to go after streams of foul abuse aimed at the Everton players.

Think it’s always happened to some extent, however the availability of tickets to non regular match goers, combined with the expected trouble getting away, it’s easy to understand why it might be more obvious at BMD. GP was easier to get aware on so folk prop stayed a bit longer even when they had sen enough.
Plus the lower east is full of former Park Enders who were notorious to getting off at the slightest frustration.

Yeah maybe. I should have mentioned the lower west which contains loads of fans who miss the first 10 - 15 minutes of each second half, and of course take off out when the match turns against us. It's impossible to see the upper levels from where I am so no idea how they compare.

I left with family 10 min to go to catch a flight. I wouldnt have otherwise. Trip costs me a grand for weekend all in. Sometimes people have to go.
Ended up getting on plane at 7pm only for airport to close and ended up in airport till 4am monday morning.

We sit in the lower east stand and always stay till the bitter end. Son and grandson unfortunately then have to drive back to Anglesey.

I expect that next season we’ll see a new bunch of excited fans from the ST waiting list. If we stay in mid table( which I expect) treading water with inconsistent performances and results, I predict there will be loads who won’t renew. The new stadium feel will have long disappeared and for many getting to and from the ground is such a chore. Also more and more games available on tv, people will be weighing up whether or not it’s worth it. Stadium will still be full but full of newbies
