2018/19 The Everton Board Thread

I think people forget he was part of the board since 89, not as if he came in out of nowhere to save the day or something.

Don’t like him personally, thought his interview with the blue union was very telling particularly afterward when the actual content of it was deliberately brushed aside for a narrative of shame tactics about how unclassy it was for it to be recorded. Never felt quite the same about the club after that tbh.

His chairmanship has been woeful both on the pitch and off it

Commercially and on the pitch and around the ground we looked as dated as his one liners
We failed under his leadership

It took moshiri to sort the ground out
Regardless of his beaming face on sky sports

For all the criticism Kenwright receives the stark fact remains that he was the only one willing to step forward and shoulder the burden of an effectively bankrupted club.
The fact we are still in the top fligh,t still with a fighting chance of rejoining the elite is something he can take a certain amount of pride in and for which we should thank him.

Invested very little when he took it over and made tens of millions selling to moshiri

He didn’t have millions to invest though.
He did the best he could with the limited resources available to him.
Under his stewardship we maintained a presence in the top half of the table, finishing 4th at one point.
Off the pitch EiTC has been a major success and is not only something that Evertonians can be proud of but continues to reflect well on the club.
He also took steps to ensure former players were looked after and rightfully honoured,
All in all , he wasn’t perfect but far from the disaster some would have.
But my main point remains that no one else was willing to take the burden of ensuring the survival of a club on the edge of oblivion.

Correct, how some are forgetting this is shameful, twice before him we had to stay up last game of the season, not once under him did we ever look like going down. Yes maybe Moyes gets the credit for that, but if Kenwrite was that bad when Moyes had his stock at the highest im sure he would of walked

We did look like going down, twice. One resulted in the dismissal of Walter Smith after a dreadful 3-0 loss to Boro and the second was Moyes second season which was very poor. Only differences being they didn’t have to rely on the last day to stay up mate.

We didnt mate, not once. The loss to Boro was in the FA cup? and Moyes second season we never looked like going down, but we only got 2 points from the last 6 games once we were safe we tailed off, besides that was before Kenwright, Philip Carter was chairmen then. Bills first season was the next one, we went from 17th to 4th :)

He was right about Blackburn though in that interview

That’s right actually, 2004, my mistake. It was the time Paul Gregg left also.

I disagree with you about never looking like going down, we did in particular under Smith which was why he was sacked, the Boro game was a cup match yes, he was sacked after it. We were shocking. Moyes second season too, finishing 17th then Rooney and Trevor Birch left etc
