The Court Of Moyes - A Debate.

Why beckford ? Made money on him. Never really did anything wrong IMO, always looked good when coming off the bench.

Because using the two or three players moyes bought and it's been a mistake against him is unfair. Moyes is excellent at buying players, that's not his weakness. He gets it right nine times out of ten. His weakness is tactical inflexability, like playing Beckford and Saha alone up front with cahill behind when it clearly wasn't working because neither striker was suited for the lone forward role and cahill was off form.

If his genius is best illustrated by a player like gibson who fits into the system perfectly, cost next to nothing and wasn't rated by anyone else, then his failiure is best illustrated by his continued attempt to force a square peg like Beckford into a system that he didn't fit rather than adapting the system to suit him (by playing say a 4-4-2 and dropping cahill). We then sold beckford, vaughan and yabuku and struggled for goals for the next six months until he finally managed to pick up the players for cheap that suit the system he will always play (Jelavic and Naismith). Because again he's very good in the transfer market.

Jagielka - Jobbing midfielder at Sheff utd to one of the leagues best defenders and England international for £4 million.

Saha - His reluctance to change things when it is plain to see that plan A isn't working and hasn't for months.

I agree with you mate, but I can think of at least 10 worst signings dm has made. I honestly thought we looked like a better team with beckford on the pitch, at the end of the day he scored goals when given chance.

Cahill/Pienaar/Jelavic/Fellaini/Baines/Jags/Howard/Martyn - Anyone of those would do a good job of performing the argument that Moyes is great.

Billy/Saha - In the end it was pretty obviousl Billy was not suited to the Prem and should have definitely got rid of earlier. Playing Saha for as long as he did is indefensible.
