Yeah, I could swear he had broken his leg twice as well before we signed him and he would still go in full blooded. Some player.
I was at the Bolton game on New Year's day at the old Burden Park. The snow and ice on the terraces, the game should never have been played never mind being called off early in the second half (they couldn't/wouldn't refund people's entrance money if the game was called off after half time). Reidy slid into a tackle with Georgie Wood and did his knee. But the tenacity of the guy to come back and become one our greatest leaders on the pitch. Supreme player who never got the credit he deserved because he was competing against Brian Robson at ManUre..and who, by the way, never got the better of Reidy when we played them.

That’s the way I remembered the incident, Peter was not only a great player in that Everton team but also one of about four captains on the field including Ratcliffe, Andy Gray was another with Bracewell the quiet man who led by example.
