Just assess the situation of two clubs which I don't think are bigger than Everton, Palace and Villa.

Villa were bottom half for the first three seasons before Emery took over and since then he's had them in the top 6 every full season he's had at the club - finished 7th first season but that was due to Slippy G and his horror show. Will finish top 6 again this year, probably higher with CL qualification and they're favourites for the EL. He's significantly increased the level.

Palace have been between 15th and 10th since they've been promoted in 12-13 and if there was ever a club that someone could label as a bit of a nothing club, it was them and Fulham. Since Glasner joined he matched their highest league finish and points total in his first season. Broke that points total the next season and won the FA Cup. This season he's potentially going to dip on that league position but he's in a strong position to win another trophy and secure Europe again next season. Again, increased the level of the club overall.

Both of them have done this with players that were at the club before they joined and also having to be savvy in the transfer market for different reasons. Emery due to PSR constraints compared to the clubs around him at CL level and Glasner because Parish is frugal and he's lost his best players consistently (Olise, Eze, Guehi, Andersen etc.).

There is no reason that we cannot employ a manager to do the same here. We need a manager who can break the ceiling.

I came in briefly to have a look, the poll is a lot different to most I've seen so far which was surprising.

I've voted no for the following reasons :-

1 year left on current deal, TFG originally wanted to give him 18 months which would have been this coming June but he would only come in for 2 1/2 years. I'm nor sure having a manager in the last year helpsus, I certainly wouldn't let him spend big money for 1 last season.

He is not aligned with the Committee, they wnat different things. Moyes wants the likes of Ben White, Stones or Soucek. The committee want players under 24 like they have done at Roma.

Moyes destroys our young players by not playing them, Armstrong recalled from Preston where he was influential to now sitting on the bench if he makes the squad. Dibling, Patterson, Aznou, Rohl and George getting less minutes than Dwight McNeil who was Surplus to Requirement. Other manager in this league will have given these lads game time to develop, under Moyes they will stagnate.

In game management is terrible, not enough subs and usually way too late. if the 1st XI dont go and win the game usually that is us done.

He is very much in the Dyche mould, he is risk averse and will never just let the hand brake off and play attacking football, what have we got to lose now? Even now would rather play not to lose than playing to win. The football this season has been dreadful, to the point people are questioning their season tickets in light of the recent and future price rises.

Moyes is not the long term answer, although many of you a would say he is doing a fantastic job he has only accumulated one more point than the last 2 seasons, we just accumulated them earlier to keep us away from a relegation fight. Was the extra 1 point, as it stands, worth the £150m investment TFG made in players this season. In fact £100m of them players sat on the bench and twiddled their thumbs. Why would you give a manager that amount of money to do that again? Seems an idea that Moshiri would entertain just like signing old players on big wages.

Moyes is rumoured to be the 5th highest paid manager in world football, his management leaves alot to be desired as new managers come in to this league and over take his 3 decade successes in just a couple of seasons.

I think Moyes type of management is a dying breed, the Premier League rewards teams that play to win like Bournemouth, Brighton and Villa.
I agree with a lot of what you state and if TFG have identified the long term successor then they should bring him in and move on from Moyes as I couldn't see them keeping him beyond next season any way. However, if they do not have a long term successor then I would let Moyes continue into next season and see how it plays out. You can pretty much guarantee Everton will not be any where near the relegation zone under Moyes and another top 10 finish would be the target.

In his defence, Branthwaite has only played 7 premier league games over 45 minutes and Jack Grealish will have missed half the season. Apart from perhaps Ndaiye they are arguably Everton's two most important outfield players.

I don't really have much of an issue with style of play - I haven't enjoyed watching any team in the league play over the entire season, I think with the rules and the way the Premier League is heading lends itself to more turgid football. Further, had Branthwaite and Grealish been available more regularly the football would have been better and hopefully with quality full backs next season the football will be more modernised.

To think Everton will likely finish in the top 10 this season with horrific full backs, long term injuries to two of their three key outfield players and indifferent and mostly poor centre forward play is quite remarkable.

Some quality additions in those areas and to give the likes of Rohl, Dibling and George the opportunity to progress (my biggest gripe with Moyes is his insistence to rely on senior pros) then we could be onto something special in years to come.

I think his limitations have become more of an impediment than in the past, his best years were when he could operate unfettered in the full managerial role and being frugal with the miniscule funds provided by Kenwright. They seemed to have a symbiotic relationship where he wouldn't be critical of the scarce finances along as he full autonomy on the pitch.

The footy landscape has morphed and someone like Moyes who is very particular in how he approaches the game does not jibe with a collaborative model as he's not looking at incorporating youth at least on the regular, I think he signed off on the younger players because I think he likes the notion of having youth talents but reality his risk averse tendencies prevent that from being a feasible game plan , unless it's a special scenario it takes him months to years to fully implement younger players due to his innate wariness as a manager.

If you consider how anti moyes that the outspoken on this forum generally is and moyes in is still winning the vote. I think its fair to say the overwhelming majority of our fanbase want him to stay

A 8.4% majority.

Hoping to find the time to run our usual end of season poll - that will give a better view IMO.

Though, the last manager who completed a full season had a 96% approval on that.

Davek’s hero was a man who got sacked, failed with one of the best International squads in the past 30 years and who has failed everywhere since.
