Not surprised if he did it based on the 1st half as we could have been so many behind, 2nd half it was all us but not really causing man utd problems bar a late cross along the area that Emslie couldnt get and an early Jill scott shot from range, but i doubt that man utd have not had a shot the whole half [2nd half] against any team before, or it will be a long time, funny thing is we had same amount of shots but a few less on target but you would not know that if you watched the game without knowing, but anyway next week home to Birmingham is a game Everton should win, then we play away to Reading on the thursday before what should be a 3 week break, though the end of Feb is due to be a cup weekend and with that been delayed it could be used to play one of the games in league called off, like today was as today should have been the cup weekend

What it showed yesterday as well is even with all the recruitment we've still got a long way to go when it comes to challenging at the top ( I know we beat Chelsea in the cup but I mean we've got to consistently go and beat the top sides)

Man Utd played some lovely stuff and really took care of the ball in certain moments, that comes with experience. We are certainly building a decent squad though.

I simply want us to get down the wings and whip some lovely balls into the box for Gauvin, it was a good hour fir her to get under her belt.

I'd expect us to win the next two and a little gap to emerge as the top 5 break away ( well it looks like the top 3 already have lol )

yep,few of those players were playing 1st games in a few months after Injury, while off course others have only played 1 game in 6 weeks, but a far way away from top 3/4 yet for me, 5th was my prediction which looks very likely not to be lower than that with the gap to behind and the games in hand they have on some, plus games comming up are v some of those close behind---after sunday it means Everton have 4 away games in a row [Reading/Spurs/Man City/ Birmingham] before then having chelsea home in the league

Everton did the rare thing unless its now going to be weekly thing, of showing the P/C LIve, funny enough the only other one that was Live was also v Birmingham for the FA CUP cup game in september

WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 1 BIRMINGHAM WOMEN 1

On a very cold and blustery day, Everton came into this home game v Birmingham hoping to close the gap to the teams higher up, while also hoping to make the gap to the teams behind bigger, Both of those had a big chance of happening, Everton would stay 5th whatever the result though and this was the 3rd home game in a row due to call off's etc, before they then have 4 successive away league games, Everton were hoping to build on a decent 2nd half showing v man utd in this game v a Birmingham team that had 3 away wins from the last 5, and very oddly that when they have won away in there last 5 games they have not conceeded, while when they lose they have not scored in the last 6 they have lost, Everton have not won at Home v Birmingham in the league since 2010 [6 games] but did win a cup game home in 2017, overall Everton have won half the amount of games played v Birmingham but have lost a 3rd of the overall amount

Everton made 3 changes for this game with Korpela replacing Maclver in goal for her 1st league start since Feb 12th last year at Spurs, with Emslie starting her 1st game in 3 months since mid november and Young 17 year old Grace Clinton comming in for Raso been the other change for her 2nd WSL start and her 4th league appearance, Gabby George also returned to the squad for the 1st time since Feb 17th last year after that bad ruptured anterior cruciate ligament , plus Everton had the rare sight of been able to have 9 subs named today

Everton started very well with Sorensen getting down the right wing a few times, but the crosses not been the best, but it was Birmingham who should have been 1 up on 11mins when Murphy again down Birmingham's right finds a lovely low cross. Napier and Whipp are there in the middle unmarked but can't get it past Korpela who held onto it. There More Good build up from Everton down the left with Moe Wold meeting a cleared cross outside the box on 17mins.Everton were not really threatening the goal enough, but after a foul right on the edge of the 18 yard area dead centre on Sevecke, Everton took the lead with a super low free kick from Dan Turner on 23mins, Everton had further chances with Emslie headig=ng wide but could not quite get to it to be fair, and Gauvin having shot blocked, but on 33mins Birmingham were given a pen maybe harshly when a shot from yards away was blocked with Izzy christiansen maybe more blocking her face, Up steped Ex Toffee Forward Claudia walker who saw her pen saved low to Korpela's right but the ball was bundled over the line by the onrushing birmingham player Jamie Lee Napier to as ever what ever level score her 1st goal for Birmingham, But it was 1-1 at Half time with Everton having much of the ball but with clear cut chances been few.

Everton again started brightly the 2nd half with Sub Raso having a shot blocked on the edge of the area, Lehmann breaking down the left getting into the are and her cross could not be controlled by Gauvin who was on the 6 yard box, Christiansen then shot from the edge of the area but it was easy for Birmingham keeper Hannah Hampton after a deflection., A Raso cross just about been stoped by the keeper on 57mins after nearly sneaking in, Grace Clinton then had a header again easy for the Brum keeper after the cross by Wold after good play by Raso, Lehmann again got a decent cross in by Raso free at the back post could not control it, on 68mins Raso curled an excellent ball across the face of goal, but no one was there to even get a chance to get on the end of the powerful cross, Everton were well on top but were not working the Birmingham keeper anywhere near enough, on 73mins Dan Turner again stood over a free kick but this time fired it straight into the wall, Jill scott then headed wide from a Izzy Christiansen Corner on 78mins, on 90mins Everton win a corner down the left. The delivery from Christiansen is headed on by Finnigan which deflects of a birmingham player onto the top of the bar, but the game ended 1-1 and it was 2 points dropped in reality, Everton stay 5th but are now level with 6th placed Reading who pulled off a shock away win at man utd for masn utd's 1st home lost in 13months,while 2nd placed chelsea also has a surprise home defeat for their 1st lost in 33games, the next game for Everton away to Reading next week at 2pm sunday

Good shout. We talk a lot about having to step up to compete at the level of City and Chelsea, but that cuts both ways, and it's definitely two points dropped today. Nice to see Dan Turner on the scoresheet.....I'm not sure looking at the goal, who (keeper/wall) was exactly covering what.....fair play though, she still has to place the shot, and we've seen many of those end up going over the fence :) !! Thanks for the report....

Always like his honesty, but am kind of worried it's going in a bit of a rut "have to do better". To be fair (and I know I say that a lot about everything) to him and the team, they haven't played a lot so any level of consistency must be a challenge plus blending some new players in....
Yep, if you take the 1st 4 games out, its 1 win in 8 league games which is no where near good enough, the 3 home draws were we have actually led in all i expected to win, yesterday's result was not helped by Reading winning at man utd meaning they are now level on points with us, the team we play next. while we also knew that a win would maybe have us 3 points behind 4th if arsenal lost which happened, so we failed to take the chance again to get closer -I expected to be 3 points ahead of 6th at worst yesterday or more likely 5 with a win for us and lost for Reading, now we go to a team that always seem to beat Everton at home or this season have a lot of 1-1s, Everton have been top 5 all season but a chance to be 6th 3 points behind this weekend which is not good-team change's i think he did thinking the game would be easy, not as he said based on Training.

Izzy Christiansen has committed her future to Everton, signing a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the Club until the end of June 2023.

England international Christiansen joined the Blues from European champions Lyon last January.

The 29-year-old has swiftly emerged as a hugely influential member of Willie Kirk’s talented side, delivering a succession of all-action midfield performances.

Christiansen has hit four goals in 12 WSL appearances for the Blues this term and helped the team reach the 2020 FA Cup final.

Christiansen began her senior career at Everton in 2008 before enjoying successful spells at Birmingham City, Manchester City and French giants Lyon.

A former PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year, she has won 31 senior caps for England.

Everton manager Willie Kirk said: “I’m delighted to get Izzy’s contract extended with the Club.

“I’ve loved working with her since she arrived just over a year ago. From day one she has challenged and improved our standards and shows great leadership on and off the pitch.

“She had a slow start to her time after picking up a couple of niggly injuries almost immediately but since returning to the pitch it has been clear for all to see her undoubted quality.

“She is technically fantastic, physically in great condition and, tactically, way ahead of most players.

“Izzy will be pivotal to the success that we are trying to bring to the Club.”

Everton Sporting and Commercial Director Sarvar Ismailov added: “Izzy is a phenomenal player. She is still hungry after already having achieved so much in football.

“She is a great leader in the team both on and off the pitch.

“We are delighted to continue our journey together to new success.”

Great news

I know this is the Everton womens thread, and womens footie is not everyone's cup of tea, but what about this for a goal, worthy of replay after replay in the local derby as well

Haha, like the way she starts wheeling away before it's actually gone in. Nice bit of swagger!
