What?

Labour had absolutely no control and didn't want any. Completely intent on destroying British culture and society.

It is saying during the Labour years it cost us a LOT of money. It also says that open EU immigration generated money.

This of course doesn't take into account the sociological effects on our every day lives which I believe far out way the generation of a few hundred million to line the back pockets of our governments.

British culture doesn't just die a death as soon as people from other countries come over. It should however, diversify in accordance with the population. It's a piece of land, why should national identity hold such sway?

The difference in the immigrants who came in from 150 to 1970 was they just accepted our culture/Language heritage etc - In the Blair years of immigration where his wife was a Human rights lawyer a word appeared called multiculturalism - this then became people were coming here not even speaking english it was and still is a free for all and a burden on our infrastructure in so many ways - The port of Liverpool as I well know fetched in many cultures in my day and they became scousers in a true sense of the word whether irish - chinese - African origins etc - this EU freedom of movement and also illegal immigration is now sadly not the case hence the rise of UKIP - like them or loath them they have rose to be a party of emerging power of membership - Even the current Prime Minister is scared of them!
I voted for a Common Market for trade with food, and goods, not a bureaucratic mess of countries who try to govern us!

Could you define what British culture is please?

Think of what you afford other nationalities/religions/ CULTURES etc and apply the same to Britain.

So many people waffle on about allowing other people to retain their identity and culture, yet don't afford the same to British people. We are the ones that must adapt to other cultures not the other way round.

And if you don't know what British culture is, one of the most recognisable and celebrated cultures across the world, then there is no hope.

Immigration is nessessary. OF COURSE IT IS NESSESSARY FFS. But when you don't really check who's coming or have any specific requirements it just makes a complete mess of our society.

Not sure on that tbh. You and I will see this differently obviously, but it doesn't feel like crisis point. We aren't swamped with them from overseas. We just have more coming in than some sections are comfortable with.

On the society point, heritage and society and culture are not really being eroded by immigration in my eyes, society is simply realigning with those in it. We haven't lost these things, we are just conforming with the really quite small proportion of he population who weren't born here.

Areas where you feel foreign in your own country, and I don't care what you say, that is absolutely not on. And why the hell should WE conform?! People should come here and conform with us, because they want to be here and they want to be part of our society. NOT the other round. Jesus Christ.

The figures stack up mate. It has been found they have cost us BILLIONS. Its not even the money Im that arsed about, its our society. It is becoming 'racist' to say you are proud to be British or English. Even the wearing the [Poor language removed] poppy is coming under scrutiny. Its disgraceful and people like you are fasciliating it.

Why the hell shouldn't we conform a little? It's not wholesale changes we are talking about here. It's just accommodating for a fraction of the population, that's hardly revelatory. They, for the most part do conform, but bring their own culture as well. You are also suggesting they conform to an idea of Britain you have. Does that even exist anymore?

The poppy seller thing is an isolated incident, you said so yourself at the time. It is not racist to be proud of being English, it's racist for not liking others for not being.

Its never to late, get Cooper, Johnson, or Burnham in and its there for the taking.
Milaband should have had it easy agaist this lot, they are a shower of liars and not very good at even being decent tories, open goals all over the place for Mr Ed but he never takes them. bit like like ROD Belfitt for us years ago.

Labour ditching Miliband: his personal rating has been low for so long. Why ditch him now?

They're falling behind the tories in polls now and that's panicked the parliamentary party who realise a lot of them are going to be forced off the westminster gravy train. Changing this divvy Miliband for one of the other chumps wont fool anyone though. The UKip defectors wont be staunched and the Scottish collapse wont be stabilised if the policies aren't bold and class based.

They really are in a pitiful mess when a gang of Blairites can still call the shots and put the skids under their current leader like this.

They'll be buried in May next year, Miliband or not.

Christianity? Pretty much a European thing once it transferred from those horrid foreign parts. Beer? Didn't the Egyptians start brewing the stuff? Vindaloo?

Perhaps it's the absence of any clear national identity (if you happen to need one) that makes right wing English people so red in the face - not its disappearance.

My guess is that there is some sort of incoherent desire to go back to the world of the Ealing Comedies ... chirpy cockney rascals, country house parties, girls boarding schools, national service, afternoon tea and Land of Hope and Glory playing on the wireless while daddy smokes his pipe behind tightly closed chintz curtains.

The past always seems safer than the present.

As I pointed out earlier, when people have actually studied this kind of thing, they've found that nationality accounts for around 12% of any variance between people. Not really that big a deal, is it?
