The commonly used V-sign comes from historic battle (don’t which one), when archers would be captured by the enemy, they would cut their fingers off so they could not draw back the bow. When the archers escaped without having their fingers cut off, they would show them their fingers hence the V-sign was born!
Supposed to be the Battle of Agincourt.
