As I clearly said....for the impact they had at the time. Campbell saved us from relegation....a drop we wouldn't have easily recovered from. Linekar gave us one, albeit glorious, season and then saw peseta signs, we never saw the greatness we should have with Rooney in a blue shirt bar about 6-12 months, and Sharp was in my 'obvious' first 11.
Sometimes it's easier to read the post slowly than stumble in, make a stupid comment and dash off .

But that wasn't the question was it?

No need to get so aggressive pal.

Apologies mate, not meant like that. I thought I qualified it pretty well noting that under normal circumstances the obvious 11 would have been my choice?
Campbell saved us at a time when, god forbid, we would have done a Sheffield Wednesday had we not had his phenomenal impact and goal return. For that he deserves his place in my 11.

More or less this with the easily forgotten Paul Power at LB, still one of the greatest crossers of a ball to grace goodison.

I didn't put him in my team/squad but haven't as an afterthought seen a mention for Beardsley,he literally carried us for a couple of years, pity we had an otherwise terrible side at that time,he was so good you could have added him into the mix around 84-87 IMHO.

In terms of what I've enjoyed watching and the impact they had for different reasons, other than the obvious all-conquering side (which for those of us lucky enough to witness would undoubtedly be a straight 11 choice), this bunch also did it for me:

Southall
Watson
Baines
Mountfield
Lyons
Kancheslkis
Reid
Bracewell
Sheedy
Latchford
Campbell

Subs:
Martyn
Gough
Weir
Steven
McCall/Stuart
Fellaini
Linekar/Jelavic/Rooney/Sharp

Campbell??? Since the challenge is that you have to have seen the player play, Micky Lyons and Bob Latchford put you in reasonably wrinkly territory like me. I can't believe you have put Kev Campbell in there considering the choices since then. I know it is personal choice, but come on.......
