Sylvain Distin

Except that he hasn't. One or two interactions on twitter (but strangely we're all ok with him baiting RS fans the same way) after he was getting fairly naughty abuse, and one interview in Equipe, in which he actually didn't say anything contentious.

Not really bleating, is it.
Much more than that not to mention trying to fight fans

What did you think of Jags in this games mate?

Worst performance I have ever seen from an Everton captain was Jags in the 6-3 loss to Chelsea. He was personally at fault for two, possibly three of the goals. Distin was noticeably better than Jags in that game, and also against Arsenal. Two games are not necessarily representative of a season, sure: but Distin should have been, and should still be, the man on the bench ahead of Alcaraz at the very least.
Id imagine what ever kicked off first half of the season meant hes not anywhere near the squad now even if he would be a better option

@GregOK: RM on @sylvaind15tin : "In Jan Sylvain wanted to leave but it never materialised & from that point on we needed to look to future" #EFC
@GregOK: RM on @sylvaind15tin : "He's been a phenomenal professional and we wish him the best of luck."

Distin has told a magazine in France that he was offered a loan deal to West Ham which he wanted to accept but Martinez said no and that the team needed him. Since then, Martinez hasn't spoken to him since.

RM sounds like a right pr*ck over stuff if this is true. If they've fallen out and there's no way of salvaging his career here, then he should have just let him go. Why has he forced him to hang around an extra 6 months?

Its ultimate popcorning by roberto Lol

Equally valid scenario:

Random East London porn merchant: "Look we've heard from his agent that you have an unhappy aging pro. We'll take him off your hands if you pay 75% of his wages."
Bill: "In the immortal words of the Bard: go forth and multiply."
Unhappy Aging Pro: "The connards didn't let me leave."

Wait he just came out to complain about the situation so you publicly praise him?!

Roberto Martinez has praised Sylvain Distin’s professionalism during the second half of the season.

The 37-year-old Frenchman has found first team opportunities limited since the turn of the year, with John Stones and Phil Jagielka forging a solid partnership in the centre of the back four.

Distin is out of contract in the summer after almost six years at Goodison Park.

Martinez said at his press conference after the Sunderland game: “Sylvain has been a phenomenal professional and servant of Everton.

“It has been a tough season (for Sylvain) but in football it happens. You get a young man like John Stones at the age of 20 who has performed in an incredible manner and has developed a very strong partnership with Phil Jagielka.

“In January, Sylvain wanted to leave and go into another club but that never materialised. From that point on we needed to look forward to the future and wish Sylvain the best of luck.”

Its the absolute makings of the new PR/Comms guy.
He literally plays fans as mugs. Doogan is his name.

Dark day appointing him. Villa hated him; he hated them.
Me thinks we have bad news incoming somewhere soon..

It has all the hallmarks of a classic piece of spin. Martinez will have been prompted on this; such a cringeworthy news piece.
I despair at this club sometimes.

Not really. Would be suicidal to have let a central defender leave this season.

He threw his toys out the pram. He's 37. He's at the end of his career and will maybe find a club at the end of the season.

Until then, he should play out his contract with us.

Sold Lescott for 24 million after 5 years sevice, bought Distin for 5 million and he gave us 5 years service. Great deal for the club, if only our current managers scouts could find such deals, we wouldn't be dooped into getting Barry on a 3 year deal and agreeing to pay 28 Million for LuKAKu
