Driving down in the early hours for the morning flight out of Stansted tomorrow, 7 of us stopping in the IBIS Budget Central then flying back on the late flight back to Stansted.

Safe journey to all travelling blues!

My memory is quite bad, but I do not recall the last time we didn't play at least 1 preseason game at Goodison?

Anyway, its Germany again where we will face the team called Sportverein Werder Bremen von 1899 e. V.

An 8th place finish last season, no doubt helped by wee Davy Klaassens BLAMMOS all over the place.

Sadly a very poor preseason overall currently, let's hope we can end it with a bang.

Depending on when Rico gets back and availability of players I would imagine Marco will be playing our strongest team.

There is, of course, a chance for a new signing or 2 to make the cut, that would seem unlikely, but not impossible.

Goats 11 to start :

Pickford
Coleman - Mina - Keggers - Digne
Gomes - Delph
Rico - Viking - Bernie
DCL
This will be my final match preview, it has been my pleasure to write them, but the offer from City was too good to turn down at this point in my career.
I wish to thank everybody who bothered to read them and the mods for giving me the platform to write them, God speed to you all.

COYB

thank you for the match reviews and on a job very well done , much appreciated !

Good luck at City , By the way you didn't announce your replacement for what is a crucial task , hoping its not a swap deal with City

Everton will smash SWBV- 1899 as a going away present COYB !

last pre-season, last chance to impress, no more excuses for being "unfit"

think we will tonk these, and that little albino klaasan will be jarg

Get yourself a Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) Ticket. Covers all trips around the state including between Bremen and Hamburg. Costs €23 but if someone's going with you it's only an extra €3 per person. Just buy one at a ticket machine (think it's under day tickets or special tickets) and write your names on it.

You can get a return ticket from Hamburg for about 14 Euro’s. takes about an hour and half on the train. The is a class reggae bar on the main strip near the restaurants. The is couple of bars near the ground for few bottles/pints of Becks.

What are you all doing in bremen apart from watching the blues. Drinking places?
Thought I'd put together a mini guide for Bremen, I've been twice before and it's a cracking city. If you're flying into Bremen it takes about 10 minutes to get into the centre, it's boss.

For the night before/after the match, the Schlachte (the riverside) is a good bet. Loads of beer gardens and it's mostly busy with hen dos and the like, plus you get a scenic view of the Beck's factory (tour's alright, but expect to watch a stupid 10-15 minute video on AB Inbev). Head to the Bremen Am Brill tram stop and walk south from there. If you head down and turn left past the church you'll be around Bottcherstrasse, there's a big Bierhaus there called Schuttinger, they do boss food and brew their own beer. Just near there is a tiny pub called Spitzen Gebel, full of 80s German music and moody locals, it's ace.

I've heard that Blues are meeting around the main train station on the Saturday, if that's the case there's an Irish bar nearby called Paddy's Pit but if you can't get in there's a small bar in the train station and one called Hugo's Watch across the road to the right if you're looking from the station. If you want crates, there's a Rewe supermarket opposite Paddy's, and an Edeka supermarket if you head left from the station. Also, there's an Aldi if you walk through the station to the other side. I think there's a couple of Kiosks around there too that you can get cans from, and if all else fails there's a Spar in the train station that's open late and on Sunday as well.

Oh, and if you have a choice, get Haake Beck over Beck's - it's locally brewed in the factory over the Weser, and it tastes better in my opinion. Never been able to find it anywhere else, it's great.
