When you look at our bench..it shows you how far we've come with regard to the squad. Naismith unlucky, but its a squad game, and he'll be on at some time(Hopefully not if Barkley is having one of his not infrequent gash games...in fact Barkley needs to play up to standard today, there are good subs waiting to take his place)

Me too, he has to be our target man!!

But I think Bobby will play him on the wing...

possibly...but agree lukaku should play up top, Eto'o looks much better playing in a deeper role....although this means Barkley might have to play out wide....
atleast its unpredictable, Sunderland defense will be just as confused right now about how we're gonna set up....

Think this team is too strong imo. So if we stutter to score then we have very little that we can change. I'd rather have started with Pienaar on the left with Aiden, Naismith and Atsu to make impact off the bench. Then again, I haven't managed a game in my life apart from career mode in fifa.

Looks like there is gonna be a massive gap between the back 6 and front 4. If Sland win the midfield and Distin and Jags don't recover last years form and instead play like this years form it could be trouble.

If our front 4 are on form we'll win. Unless Mannone decides to start acting like a goalkeeper again.

EDIT : Actually i've just seen their midfield. We'll be fine.

If we lose it's our own fault.

That's where Ross comes in old bean.

McCarthys job to bring it forward or get Ross to drop in and drive forward? Plenty of options in front of Barkley if that's the case.

.....strong line up, it's the balance that I'm not sure about. I thought there might be a Barkley/Naismith choice but the fact that Eto'o starts probably means a more fluid shape with different players filling the wide position when they have the ball. Enough quality there as long as the shape is ok.
Fair point mate.i agree it means the 3 behind rom need to be flexible and interchange.id like to think they're good enough and intelligent enough to do it.was hoping pienaar would start.whats happened to him ?

Am a little sad to see Naismith left out, but he can be a hell of an impact sub if we're chasing a goal so it's all good!

Correct decision bringing Barkley in for Naisy but surely he will play in behind Rom!? That pushes Sammy out wide which doesn't work IMO. This will be interesting. Massive game for us today.

.....not sure what's up with Pienaar, he seems to be struggling physically at the moment. Perhaps these days he's more of a player for home games.

NO EXCUSES EVERTON WE WANT THE 6TH PLACE TROPHY (before the last international break) AWARD

if we can get the first goal, i think we can go on and win comfortably....assuming we have no Europa hangover...
