Some of fans really annoy me, had a fella behind who screamed at Lukaku for anything and everything.

I think we all forget the following:

He's still a kid, like Barkley is...Barkley makes mistakes and people praise him, saying he'll learn. (imo Barkley was one of the worst on the pitch)
He had a long season, being overplayed when tired, then went to a world cup...then came back and played 0 minutes of preseason
I'd say at least 70% of passes to him are overhit, 50/50 chances or poor. He doesn't want to hold it up, he runs on to them, so why are we playing to his weak points?

Overall i thought the game was terrible, we went for the draw, even when we could all see the win could've been there.
Howard was a joke the way he sorted that wall, everyone around us said exactly what was going to happen and it did.
McCarthy and Coleman are the only two who can be proud of their performance.
Mason was a joke! Utter joke.
Sunderland on the whole isn't a place i'd return to...horrible place, fans calling us scouse p*icks for simply walking to the car park, police sending us AWAY from the away section when we were lost and stewards being over cautious with everything.

Unfortunately Bobby got it wrong again in my eyes, Besic should've been on in place of Gibson. We have no plan B

FFS. No one who played on Thursday had to get out of second gear. It was an absolute stroll. Probably took less out the players than an average training session at FF.

Possibly being a bit over-simple here but I thought we played like a team that wanted to win the game rather than sit back for a draw and the try to snatch a win. So full marks for the efforts. Sunderland played on the backfoot for almost all of the game. Frustrating as it was to watch until Naismith came on by defending so deep and in such numbers Sunderland were actually paying us a compliment. Now we've just got to get better at breaking down the likes of swansea and Sunderland. Having said that swansea beat arsenal and plenty of other teams will not leave sunderland with all 3 points if they play the same tactics as they did against us.

I'm not one for sendings off willy nilly but Sunderland should've been down to 9 men at the end. I know we couldn't take advantage over 10 man Swansea, but 9 man Sunderland...

OK right, so, by your reckoning training for, planning and getting home after a match on Thursday night has no effect on the players compared to teams that have not played a competitive match for a week?!?! Really?

Mate, the stats are massively against your argument. Even the bookies take it into consideration when setting the odds.

I am not a great subscriber to this après the EL theory.

We came on like a tank at the end of the United game despite playing in Russia a few days before.

We were sparkling at Burnley afte playing in Lille.

But the most conclusive evidence in my eyes is that as low key as yesterday's oerformance was, it was no worse that last week against Swansea which did not follow a European game.

I thought McGeady being subbed off made us much more of a threat. Not criticising McGeady but I don't think Seamie gets the opportunity to overlap when he is in front of him and as a result we don't overload their right hand side. When Mirallas plays he tends to drive in field which gives Coleman room.

I think this is the same reason that Baines is always more involved when Pienaar is on the pitch.

McGeady is both footed and tends to hug the touchline (most of the time) so I would almost prefer to see him playing on the left as Baines is much more capable of performing the underlap and driving infield than Seamie is at present.

My two cents anyway.

It isn't a question of "backing" you up.

God knows there have been reams written to "back" up the theory.

And there is undoubtedly merit in it.

But the fact remains we were no worse yesterday than we were last week when there was no Thursday night match preceding it.

And we finished up the strongest of the two teams at OT despite us having played in Russia as they put their feet up.

Plus there was Burnley.

Didn't take our chances yesterday. Three scoring opportunities close to goal, including Lukaku through, wasted. Otherwise we win comfortably. I don't envy the manager. Yes we have quality. But he has too many central players and not enough of a threat out wide, other than our fullbacks, at the moment. Hopefully getting Mirallas back fit will give us more balance up front.

The only win we've got after an E L match was at a p*** poor Burnley. Not a lot else need be said on that subject, i m o.

Bit concerned with T H and his wall placement. Other than that, we should have enough to beat that kind of side poor refereeing or not.

The Thursday / Sunday excuses dont wash. Without baines/piennar and mirrallas/coleman we lack width and pace. atsu does not look to be able to play from the start and barkley is not a winger. Mcgeady has been forced to be carry the burden and has also played a lot of games so far with us and Ireland. yes lukaku has not been at his best but with little decent service in behind teams he wont be.

Lukaku has been playing his usual role of the striker up top recently. Crosses are coming in screaming for a player to throw themselves at it but more often than not, no one is there !! It's embarrassing.... I don't see no determination to get on the end of anything; i also don't see no movement to free up some space in the box either. Very poor.

The odd time he does manage to get his head on it, it's a lackluster effort straight at the keeper. There is no drive from him at the moment to get on the end of anything. Of course there is service, we've scored enough goals this season to prove that there is enough chances being created in the team.
