I think he would be a sensible signing adding his experience to a midfield pairing of Garner and Onana.

However, for a lower fee we could sign Alex Scott or even Danilo from Forest...

Just wouldnt make sense.
Apparently, Saints want 40m+ and he wants well in excess of 100k a week. Yes, he would slot into the midfield of a lot of teams but at that price and with no sell on value it is a very very expensive signing.

Give me Alex Scott (not the commentator 😂) all day long. He’s an absolute Rolls Royce of a player! When I’m not watching the blues I’m watching Bristol City, so I’ve seen plenty of him. Unfortunately, I don’t think we can afford him ☹️

A Gray sale may open up a door there but i imagine the focus would be on forwards and wide attackers -- i can see us going with a small squad but the central area could do with someone else being added.

I think Adam Wharton of Blackburn has been linked (@Simon Buttle ) who could be a year behind him progress wise and perhaps a smaller fee.

Judging by the media down here, and the fact that he’s not pushing for a move or the club willing to lose him… it’s a minimum £25m plus add ons. I think Brighton would be a good move for him, but think with the Rice coming to the hammers he’ll probably go there. Moyes has decent links with Bristol City, so will be well aware of Scott.

Posters probably wont agree but any young English midfielders would surely want to play alongside Garner and Onana...

I think the media will be surprised by them this season if Dyche goes with them as a pairing.

Im not knocking the fans as ultimately we're a big club therefore expectations will always be at a higher level than clubs like Brighton and Brentford who if they got relegated tomorrow the vast majority would simply be happy with memories of being a decent PL side whereas some of our lot on ere were borderline depressed/on the edge at the thought of going down.

Its ultimately a cultural thing - Everton/Evertonians are more demanding than Brighton/their fans which is why its very difficult to replicate one clubs entire philosophy/system to that of another.

In general I cant think of a single club who's had more protest movements than ours over the years - BU, KEIOC, 27 Years, all together now etc. yet outside the top 6 very few sides have won trophies/qualify for europe to argue that we've had it drastically worse than clubs of similar stature.
Just have disagree on that is what the media trh and say aswell that we expect to much. Agree on relegation will never be accepted here , i kno for me i am not happy because the standard of football here has been a disgrace, has been players bought in and sacking managers . Has been no similar managers or even a plab here. This expectation that we expect a trophy straighy away is rubbish, we just want to see us going the right way

I see this forum is still full of people who don’t actually watch players before commenting on them.
Ability wise Garner is not even close to Ward Prowse but cos one came from United and one at Southampton, Garner is suddenly a better player.
Money wise we couldn’t afford JWP but would take a proven quality Pal player than some of the other players we get linked to.

Maupay was one of these just so you’re aware.
