So we’ve removed from the wage bill/generated income this summer from;
Townsend (50k wages)
Mina (110k wages)
Coady (50k wages)
Vinagre (20k wages)
Maupay ((50k wages)
Iwobi (100k wages+ £20m fee)
Cannon (£7m transfer fee)
Simms (£6m transfer fee)
Davies (£25k wages)
Nkounkou (£4m transfer fee)
Begovic (20k wages)
Holgate (30k wages)
Samuels Smith (£4m wages)
Plus £2.5m from the Stones deal.
That’s around 450k a week (£20 million) off the wage bill and £40m brought in through transfer fees.
We’ve only brought in Danjuma, Beto, Young, Chermiti and Harrison. Combined wages £250k? Total fees £35-40m? Regardless of the quality of the deals we’ve done, our wage bill has been significantly cut and the majority of those who have left weren’t playing first team football.
Short term, we’re short of quality in starters/back up options in defence, but our attacking threat is better than last season. I’m confident that Harrison, Danjuma and Beto will score more this season than Iwobi, DCL and Gray did last season. Goals win games.
