Summer Transfer Window 2017

Yes, Zat is correct. 1 of those two vs. both of the others.

Fair take. I just don't know that VVD and/or Koulibaly at 55M are THAT much better than Manolas and De Virj who i suspect could be had for 40M and 30M respectfully.

Course my opinion may be skewed because I like both Maguire and Gibson as 3rd or 4th CB who could pair with Jags some next year in and then take over for Williams in another season. I know some don't rate one or either, but i like them.

All just idle speculation most like as in reality we will sign someone whom we haven't even thought of.

For me, I think Koulibaly is one of the best in the world so think he'd be an exceptional signing. If it means we had to only sign one centre back he would be my choice followed by either VVD or Jose Gimenez.

Also, if we had only one superstar centre back then perhaps we sign another next summer which I think is better than having 2 good ones signed now.

I do think Pickford, Koulibaly and VVD would enable us to have a somewhat impregnable centre, the best in England.

if we believe the rumours

Pickford
Holgate......Koulibaly....VVD...Baines
Davies....Schneiderlin...Gueye
Barkley......Tielemans
Lukaku
That looks astonishing + Tielemans can also play any midfield position so could move back with Lookman or ANother coming in to add pace.

Manolas would be 40mil or more now that monchi has joined roma...

If it was a choice of VVD / Koulibaly or De Vrij + Gibson

VVD or Koulibaly every single time....star players make a huge difference

If we could add one of the above 2 we would be silly to to take it. My view is it would be very difficult (thought not impossible). As Koeman has said, quality over quantity. The "numbers" we need I am confident can come from keeping Jagielka another year, promoting Galloway/Browning or Walsh finding a value signing(s).

If you could have 1 of Coulibaly or VVD which would you go for and why?

Cant see it myself, surely players want to join a team with other top players as opposed to former top players

Never understood the out and out lack of respect rooney gets in england. Across the world he is very highly regarded as a player. He has won the leauge multiple times, won the champions leauge, fa cup, leauge cup over and over again. Record breaking goal scorer for club and country and people give him no repect in this country. Always suprises me

What rumours Zat?

I rarely pop in here, but that 11 looks not bad!

Sadly Lukaku probably won't be here

Because, whatever you may think mate, it would do.

For many, many reasons.

The bloke is still massively respected by players and managers. Is still young enough to not be regarded as a joke signing.

Classing the best best player this club has ever produced. United and England's all time scorer and the one player who crossed Ferguson and wasn't booted out the club as just a former England player is absurd.

The pulling power of him towards getting younger players to join especially would be huge.

I think the other thing with Wayne is his wider influence. Currently he is a lad few associate with Everton. Fergusan is even allowed to talk about how they "produced" him. Rooney hasn't helped us in that regard with some silly interviews in the past. That being said, him chalking up another 50 appearances for Everton and another 20 league goals over 2-3 years will slightly redress that balance.

Perhaps more importantly though if getting him back into the Everton family. He is a very wealthy man and will have enormous expertise to give to the next generation. You see a lot of Everton players who've come through return to the academy. You saw Ray Hall talk with such pride at lads he brought through going into the coaching of the academy (he mentioned Osman is now). There is something incredibly valuable to prospective parents and young recruits in having lads who were at our academy, made it to the first team, coming back to help coach them. Rooney would be an enormous asset if he was involved in any way with the academy side of things.

Essentially on all parts I do think Rooney needs redemption and in some ways the club would benefit from it. While I don't think he would make a difference in the way Zat is suggesting (i.e. he himself is not world class) for younger players they will feel they can learn a lot from him. The stories he can give them about Van Nistlerooy, Owen, Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Zlatan, Pogba and how they approach the game. I also think, anybody in the game of football takes a phone call from Wayne Rooney. He seems a sociable lad too, who can help them bed in.

As for his football ability it is no surprise to me that United did what few teams have done and won at Burnley with him in on Saturday. It doesn't surprise me he scored the winning goal. He again, in an understated way played very well and marshalled the game. As fans we build up new younger players too quickly and write older ones off too quickly. He'd offer our young squad and our club an awful lot.

"However, the report does still make it clear that Monaco have the upper hand in proceedings - and they shouldn't have a problem matching the Toffees in terms of cash."

Going to be one of our biggest problems this Summer transfer window in pursuit of top quality.

Koulibaly is a defensive beast, strength, pace, power and you can bank on him going and getting the ball off someone, like a defensive Kante. He can also pass and head the ball with power and really has the lot and can play anywhere across the back.

VVD looks more elegant on the ball and seems to be more of a leader and organiser. Of the two I could see VVD as the covering defender with Koulibaly going and winning the ball.

For me, in a non-biased choice of the two id take Koulibaly because we have other defenders who can sit back but we don't have such a powerful player to go and win the ball...I really think he would be the best in the league.
