Summer Transfer Window 2017

There was a time Giroud was uncertain of staying at Arsenal, that was the time to tempt him with regular 1st team football with WC in 1 year's time. We didn't even make an offer. He's a proven 15 goal/season striker in PL

Swansea made us work for 1.5 month to get Sigu. If we had invested our efforts simultaneously to land suppose Benteke, I am sure by now we'd have him. A 10-15 goals/season striker

We knew Costa's sitiation for a few weeks, if we were serious in him why not make an offer a few weeks prior to panic mode. He's a proven striker too in PL.

Other options could have been Vietto and Timo Werner. The point is you never know who you can get until you try. And we never even made an offer to land any suitable striker. Like Gueye and Kante who were unproven, Walsh could have landed us a gem. So I believe something between him, Koeman and the board is not right. Walsh hasn't or hasn't been allowed to earn his money this summer.

Costa is and was only going to go to Atletico.

We did talk with Giroud and looked like we were in good shape until after he scored the week one winner and changed his mind.

I think you are thinking Benteke being a shoe in is a bit off base. Crystal Palace are in a relegation battle and they just paid 32M for Benteke my guess is CP would ask for 50-60M for him. I do think he'd be a good fit but I don't think he is available at all.

No we don't. We need to buy the right striker not any striker. If we bring a stop gap on loan and use the money in January or even next summer, so be it.

Have a look around, there isn't that many great strikers that clubs are willing to sell. The only one was Giroud but he didn't want to leave.

We've had months to identify a replacement for the Snake. Months !

There is plenty of decent strikers around who we could of got in had we offered the right money/the going rate for that level of player. Yet we didn't !

Frankly, it's nothing short of embarrassing and extremely poor management to allow this club to enter the final day of the window scrambling around for what appears to be a panic loan deal...... To replace Lukaku.

Cringeworthy.

..... Ask yourself why they don't want to come here mate !

There was a time when City, Chelsea were absolute no marks. They attracted a calibre of player that powered them through to where they are now..... By paying their way.

So the slight problem is always going to be our board. That's been the case for almost 3 decades !!

So. We're blaming the board for not being oligarchs or Qatari royalty now? That's certainly a new approach.

Bear in mind that none of those sides immediately bought top tier players when the money arrived; it took time to upgrade and get to where they are. If you don't think we're on the first step of that process and that we haven't upgraded on what we had previously then I don't know what to say.

They didn't start attracting those players straight away though. They went through Ed De Gooy before landing Petr Cech, Celestine Babayaro before getting Ashley Cole, Benjani before Aguero etc etc. There was also less money about in football then and less teams in their way.

Its got nothing to do with the board, it's got more to do with there being better more glamorous options elsewhere.

Going into the season with one working centre back, one left back at the entire club, no out and out centre forward and no fit wingers says that we are.

Come on you're exaggerating there. WE've got three CB's. Two of them contributed heavily to our best defensive record since 1989. Add in Holgate and that's 4.

Garbutt can play LB, not ideal I'll admit but he's still there.

We've got Lennon, Mirallas and Lookman for the wings.

Sandro is an out and out CF imo. He can certainly play there.

Im still hoping for several players tonight but it's not quite the nightmare scenario you've painted.

Just looked for the first time today at transfer centre, A loan move for Perez? smacks of desperation again, not getting this striker we want are we, shame.

Remember when everyone was talking about us in June/early July about the fantastic new signings we'd made?

' Everton are going all out '

I'm surprised we've not been linked to Charlie Austin.
