We've made a number of key acquisitions to strengthen key roles before the start of August, leaving a whole month until the window closes.
There's more than ample time to close up any other signatures or line up new targets, so it's a bit crass to expect it all to be completed instantly.
Instead of losing momentum, I think some people are merely getting carried away with what was merely a great start to the transfer window.
I agree that some people are getting carried away with a good start to the window, but in a different way to you.
Our start to the window was undoubtedly good (I wouldn't go as far as great). I think Pickford and Keane are good additions, I'm excited by Sandro, pleased with Rooney, and see Onyekuru as a
potential game changer in terms of our recruitment - signing such a highly rated player and just loaning him out is a very un-Everton thing to do. Since then though, we've lost Lukaku, and it appears Barkley will be following him. If that happens, I'd say the window as a whole is only really a 6/10 as it stands. Losing what were in my opinion two of our best players would be a big blow, and I think the players we've brought in basically just negate the loss of those players rather than massively improving the squad from last year.
The window can become a 9/10 if we manage to bring in a quality striker and a bit of creativity, even a 10/10 if we also get another quality centre half. I agree that we're in danger of losing a bit of momentum though, starting the season without any further first team players would be a disappointment in my opinion.
