Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

At his age he'll have managed the national side and Bayern.

Has a decent mix about him and can switch styles to suit the team.

Could be a good long term bet.
Whatever his attributes, he'd need a lot of convincing to come to our basket case club.

But, yeah, he should be available in July and would be a statement appointment.

TFG Managerial appointments -

Mourinho, vast knowledge of Serie A, free agent
De Rossi, caretaker fan favourite, vast knowledge of Serie A as a player, free agent
Ranieri, vast knowledge of Serie A and club, free agent
Gasperini, vast knowledge of Serie A, free agent

Everton

Moyes, vast knowledge of Premier League and club, free agent

It's really not hard to see the pattern they typically look for given outside of De Rossi the average age is way over 60.

Alot of people are in for a shock if they're expecting some sort of younger manager progression plan.
Interesting pattern. They ended up with right guy at Roma with Gasperini, though I'm not really sure there's an equivalent English manager. Pretty much all of the old, experienced English managers have already been left behind for being dinosaurs. Think pep is probably the most experienced manager in the league unless I'm forgetting someone daft.

Obviously other connection between all of those appointments is that they were all free agents. Think the only free agents discussed in here so far are Motta and Marco Rose.

I think Motta could be the guy for me.

Free agent, attacking football but without sacrificing posession. Builds up out wide but focus is on sliding strikers in through the middle rather than firing in crosses. Key players are 2 creative wide players that drift inside (Grealish and Ndiaye) and 2 box to box midfielders who drift wide (KDH and Garner)

I think that suits both what fans want to see and the players we already have, with the big exception being proper attacking fullbacks which are key to this system.

If the people at the club responsible for appointing the manager are the same people responsible for approving the signing of a right back then there’s a danger we sack Moyes and don’t appoint a manger for 3 seasons, instead giving the role to the finch farm canteen manager because they can do a job. The football will be crap but the players will be happy because their half time snacks are the envy of the league.
