Stephen Ireland Anyone?

Ireland did have a great season a couple of years back and is a very talented footballer, does a lot for charity and his pre-season workouts are incredible but......

He is as mad as a box of frogs, he drives pink cars (match your away shirt, mind), but, more importantly he can only play in one position and either refuses or cant adapt to any other, which is why Mancini bombed him out. He likes to play in the hole ( dont get excited chico) dictating play. Great if you want to build your team around him, but it would mean Cahill playing in a reserved role and Ireland aint as good as Cahill.

Also, he never wanted to leave City and has remained in the North, so I would assume if he is on his way then if Everton were to go for him, he would jump at the chance.

Worth a gamble, but for the transfer fee and wages, it could be a very expensive one!!

Balance

It is really all about balance. We have needed a stopper/creator alongside Arteta for years. All the others are midfield attackers except Fellini and he, I dunno, he never seems quite right, maybe too young, but in anycase he has to be part of an airial attack. Rodwel us pure class and will be an international superstar, probably at Arsenal (sadly this is now the way of the world). Ireland can stop, create or run with the ball. He is no Messi, but if the midfield can swap and change during the game, Arteta can stop, create or run with the ball, as can Cahill. Total football midfield.

So imagine this for January:

Howard
Neville Jag Distan(yeah I know) Baines

Ireland
Arteta
Rodwell Cahill

Yak Saha (un-injured and with a 10 match continuous play record)
or Adebyor (is this league getting silly or what?)

Not bad methinks.

How do you feel about the Police Stuie? Or the forum owner?

I would like to see him here personally...If I were manager I would play with Ireland and Cahill behind a striker..

He seems a bit of a tool though.

Houlier is a well respected manager and hes seen that the player in trainin isnt the one on the field and hes not puttin any effort in.

Hes been told to work harder and hes thrown a transfer request in.

Dont think moyes could deal with him and apart from him not fittin into the present side, could flop if hes not gettin his way

Would be a useful replacement for sir Tim Cahill when he goes to the asia tournament.
Loan signing any one ?

wrong

we need to get this whole 4-5-1 because it suits cahill out of our heads.

when cahill doesnt score the team carries him, play a proper 4-4-2 with 2 strikers and go at teams; cant be any worse than the boring, predictable football we have suffered under moyes and his 4-5-1 tactics.

ireland is another of a long list of average players we have been linked to, its depressing.

I've seen Ireland in action and with confidence he can be a player for us. Not on par with the work rate of Peanut but could dent the back of the net more times.

You have got to be kidding me.

2008-9 Ireland was City's player of the season by some distance. He was creative, he was a matchwinner, not once or twice but week in week out.

I don't know what's gone wrong since then, how much was down to Mancini, how much down to the player himself, but he has the quality to shine for Everton. Yes there'd be a risk in taking him on, but it's the kind of risk that you normally run when you take a player on loan in mid-season who's not been getting games because he's out of favour with his club.

please dont defend jonny average players because we are linked with them and they might end up playing for us.

if he ends up at liverpool you will probably agree with the rest of the footballing world he was a 1 season wonder.

It reminds me of when liverpool where linked with dustbin at the end of the 08/09 season. Oh how we laughed at them now being linked with an average ageing defender, and then we signed the clown.
All of a sudden he is 'great' because he looks good next to a out of form jagielka.

I long for NSNO to be instilled into some of our younger fans.
