You're either deliberately not reading what I'm saying or genuinely do not understand it.

Either way, it's crystal clear what I'm saying - if Martinez wanted to do everything possible to secure the win, he'd have chosen a first team. As it was, the focus wasn't there on this competition, so he rotated to rest key players.

It's as simple as that, I don't understand what people are getting confused about! :S

Huh????

So your saying he tried to lose on purpose?

lol no!! I'm saying the competition wasn't his primary focus so he didn't pick a first team for it.

He still picked a team to go and compete effectively and one he thought could win, but he didn't optimise his chances of winning the tie because he's rested key players like Baines.

I think the sooner Tubey apologises the sooner we can all move on to be honest.

Dont say stuff like this mate. The mrs does this when I do summat wrong, and yet I tell her all the time - YOU DO NOT NEED AN APOLOGY EVERY TIME SUMMAT GOES WRONG.

Dont be my mrs Brennan...please mate!!!!!

That's what I took it to mean as well, some people just conjouring up a whole different meaning to suit their argument mate

Theres a distinct different between doing 'everything possible to secure the win' and 'trying to lose on purpose'.

This is what i mean by bullets being fired at Tubey - is there any need lads? Cant we all get along?

Well I disagree to a degree, I feel he thought the players selected would be more than enough to win, I dont think he adopted the "Fck it if we lose attitude", hes clearly not stupid, he must surely know that "we" as fans want to win every game.

So do I. That's why I've just said in that post "He still picked a team to go and compete effectively and one he thought could win".

But he hasn't picked his optimum first eleven has he? That's all I'm saying - if the competition was a focus, Baines would have started.

I suppose, considering Baines scored 2 goals to win us our "last" game, I think hes fairly important.
