Starting XI for the derby

They are professional athletes, they will be just fine come Sunday

Don't think so mate! Reason being because the game is early on Sunday (and today's game is obviously at night), so they'll hardly get 2 days rest. Also, Rodgers demands a high intensity pressing game, which Liverpool's players will now find very difficult to implement. In the mean time Everton will have had a full week to rest and prepare for this game. You only have to look at Liverpool's game vs Arsenal earlier in the season in which the players looked shattered (and hence lost), and this was right after a gruelling and cagey 90 minute game vs Hearts on the Thursday. I'm pretty certain Everton will win! Mind you there could be some injuries/knocks today as well.

Fair shouts mate, no doubt.

Didn't we beat them 3-0 after a Thursday night in Europa a few years back though?

All I could ask for at this point in time, is for somone to break Suarez's leg in half and for Gerrard to pull a hammy!

'koff ijjy let me and jock join your click.

Brad Jones is yet to make a blunder for LFC, that is my first statement ahead of the derby. Hoping we bum their kids (non peadophilic) royally at the old lady

Howard; Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines; Fellaini Osman; Coleman Naismith Mirallas; Jelavic... Has to be the team for me. Coleman and Hibbert can double up on whatever combo comes down their side. Fellaini' best position is quite clearly CM, gotta control the game from there and he is the only one who can do it with Gibson being out and id put Naismith in because he has big Derby experience with Rangers, plus, i want to see the Naismith-Jelavic partnership.

how can you put naismith in their when he is clearly out of form.

Because we reckon he's going to play mate.

Anyway, Hibbert is the one I worry about. I think he is going to play too. But he hasn't played for ages and to throw him into the derby seems a little risky to me. Sadly.

Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Mirallas Gibson/Osman Fellaini Oviedo
Naismith
Jelavic

that's what i'd go obv, gibson if he's fit and push osman in naismith's position. Not even arsed about starting oviedo in a derby, he's played as left back so will track back well with johnson going forward or he's up against someone like wisdom even better. if it's johnson then due to his defenisve "qualities" with oviedo and baines bombing down that wing, we could have a field day. This applies to our right hand side if johnson plays LB. Obviously mirallas doesn't track back too great but with the pace on that flank we could seriously hurt them. We are the home team remember, it should be up to us to do the enforcing. Felli HAS to start in the centre, no excuses, he should run the game from there with what he's up against, we are not short with options behind the striker but we're in a bad state in centre mid, should be a no brainer

Because he's fit. And we don't have many players.
