55 years ago Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space, shouting "Poyehaly" (Let's go) at blast off!

I hope others here got to see it, but the Science Museum in London held an exhibition of Soviet space equipment over the last winter, it was incredible to see what Gagarin, Tereshkova, Leonov and the rest went into space in.
They also had a load of photos of his tour around the world, which is a subject worth an exhibition in itself; where-ever he went tens of thousands went out to meet him, the look on their faces in most of the pictures - housewives, steel workers, City folk, royalty, motorbike cops - all had a sort of awe that we do not see nowadays.
