Are you not staying in Southampton on the monday night?? where did u get the £25 return, the cheapest i could find was £39 return waterloo - southampton return.

the off peak return is available to use all night, but if you select a earlier time (i presume you selected 22.30?, try selelcting 21:00), you get the cheaper price but can use it on the later train.

im planing on leaving Liverpool about 1pm monday, get to London about 3.30 get a 4pm train to Southampton, then staying in Southampton over night £31 at Ibis. then going home about 1pm, might spend tuesday in London get a train home about 8pm.
