Sir Landon Of Donovan

Why fake Goat?

He could probably go to clubs that are a lot more fashionable but he keeps his association with the club going.

I dont think its fake- 'Once youve been touched by Everton nothing will be the same'

Also agree with the adult debate but I have to say i don't agree with 4 at all. Yes, he has earned the right to play where he wants. It doesn't take away from his stats but I'd say playing in an inferior league it's only added to his stats. Doesn't take away from his talent though I'd think that if he was here full-time his talents would have been even greater. That's the rub. Look what the PL did for Dempsey. He doesn't owe it to americans he owes it to himself to be the best he can be and he owes it to the USMNT for the same reason. Not like I'm the only american that has ever mentioned this. I mean are you saying that Klinnsman, wanting Donovan here for the exact same reason and praising dempsey for same reason, is also wrong? At some point if it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, just maybe...

4. I'm over the "he didn't go to Europe and he owed it to Americans" argument. Dude gets to play where he wants. Doesn't take away his stats or his talent.

We are not going to agree, but I appreciate the adult debate.[/QUOTE]

Hypothetical question.... how much would you pay for hime next december when he will be 30 ( i think, nearing 31 ) and will have 1 year left on his LA contract ( if what I have read on here is right ).

Damn it, not many fish around at the moment hey......

Fair play to the boy, hes put in the shifts and he tries to make things happen, got loads of assists and as ive said before, we will defo miss him when he goes.

Hopefully next time he comes back for real and isnt past it.

I will blow him a kiss on Saturday.

Landon's situation is a unique one, is there another player in the world in a similar position, staying in their home country to help a domestic league grow? I can't think of any. He's the flag bearer for US soccer and has a great deal to do with the growing popularity of the sport in America and the growth MLS has had, surpassing even NHL and NBA in attendance.

There is a lot more burden on his shoulders than most any player. Landon will leave an important legacy because there are a lot more American kids playing soccer these days beyond youth levels (my son for example) and seeing that they don't have to turn to American football or baseball or basketball to play professionally.

I'm thinking one more season of the MLS and he's going to seek to return to Goodison full-time next winter, sounded like it in the interview. He will have been more important for the growth of US soccer than anyone else, it will finally be time for him to do what is best at that time. All of us that want him to make a permanent move to Everton need to understand the pressure he faces to stay in the US.

Hats off to him, outstanding what he has achieved in the usa but,,,, there's always a but ha ha.... if he chooses not to move over here the question mark will ALWAYS be there.... .

He is coming back on a perm deal either for a little cash in December of 2012 or on a free December 2013 if Moyes wants him. In 2013 he will be 31 So I prefer this December for a little cash for 3-4 years....

Hang on

Leading assists in the PL since his arrival
Loves the club
Never stopped supporting even from the other side of the world in the sunshine

...?

This sort of reminds me of the clamour around Big Dunc in the mid 90's, he was a hero for us even though he belonged to another club but our fans made that one happen, i'm positive. I see Donovan in a similar light. An Evertonian who's committed to the cause because of the treatment he has from our supporters but wasn't from Liverpool. he needs to be playing for Everton full time as of January 2013.

MLS hasn't appeared to stunt his growth - and he's provided plenty to the USMNT - I think you would agree that he has provided the most to that team at least. Other Americans for sure have mentioned it, and they are usually huge Dempsey supporters. The other way around typically doesn't happen. Huge Donovan fans tend to like Dempsey as well. Huge Dempsey fans tend to slam LD.

Klinsmann will deal with wherever LD plays and like it. He has not commented on where Landon plays. You don't shunt your leading goal scorer and assist provider because he plays in MLS. Especially when he's currently on fire. When Bob benched Landon during the Gold Cup the PR was not pretty, in particular when Sacha Kljestan stunk up the joint when he started against Panama in LD's place, and was quickly hooked off at halftime. Jurgen is not going to cut off his nose to spite his face. As long as Landon doesn't take 4 months off during the winter and trains somewhere, he'll have a red carpet rolled out to join the national team. And that's the way it should be when you're involved in >50% of the scoring plays the US has (there was a ridiculous stat leading into the world cup about this but I'm too lazy to find it right now).

Kay seriously screw the LD vs Demps thing. You think LD will be here December 2012 or December 2013 or never on a perm....
