Silly Season January 2014

I'm just going to say this once for all those who still have a tiny bit of hope.

Think about the transfers of McGeady and Traore. And how long they took to get finalised.

Even Barry and McCarthy is truly believe were set up long before the last 10 minutes of the last window.

Lukaku seemed a bit different I grant you.

Our manager has pretty much blatantly said that bar Heitinga leaving we're not doing any business.

And Heitinga won't leave.

These are the facts. I have no hope.

On the flip side, once we get past this weekend's game, which will be tough, I think we'll be fine as players will be returning fit.

mate you sound truly depressed. How many times have managers said " no business!" and after few hours theres dough flying in the air like flock of drunken sparrows

It's a tricky one this window because bring all our injured players back and we have a good/full squad. We're not in a position where we can sign players just to replace our backup injured players. So far bringing in McGeady and Traore with jelavic going out has made us slightly stronger.

Can't see RM strengthening up front tbh, he'll go with what we'v got unless the player he wants long term became available. I do think we will see a CM come in tho. Gibson's injury leaves us very short in the center there. A injury to Barry or McCarthy would be disastrous. And if Heitinga goes, can't see how we could go thru to season end with just the 4 other CB's especially seen as alcaraz is rarely fit.

So my view is there will be no striker till the summer. A CM is going to come in, most likely a loan and maybe some young CB if heitinga moves on.

Injured players or not, the world can see we need some creation, someone to make things happen

If we get to tonight without addressing this it is a travesty and will undermine a lot of roberto's current kudos imo.

I've not got any hopes for signings, but do need someone who is the same class at Mirallas and Barkley, would like us to sign an exciting midfielder who can open up defences unless McGeady can do this.

Although we don't currently have a fit forward, I think we could manage if we get Deloufeu back on the pitch. Del, McGeady and Mirallas interchanging and constantly moving from side to side upfront would cause nightmares for any defence. And with Barkley sitting just behind them, we could cope quite well until Traore and Lukaku get fully match fit.

It seemed to work ok for Spain when they just used attacking midfielders instead of an out and out striker

This Mangala guy from Porto is apparently worth £35m? I've vaguely heard of him. How do Porto always manage to get such crazy fees for their players?

Owned by Daniel Levy's brother.

Seriously though them and Benfica mug off sides all the time and still they go back for more year after year. Bizarre really.
